Janssen Eric Yother
Janssen Eric Yother, 49, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. Janssen was born in Dallas, Texas on November 24, 1964 to J.T. and Marita Jo (Johnson) Yother. He grew up in Oak Cliff and graduated from Palmer High School. He then attended Ranger Junior College. He worked as a heavy equipment operator, maintained the equipment at DART, he also worked for the Texas MotorPlex in track operations. He and his brother Jayson were well known at the MotorPlex lovingly as Heavy C and Heavy D. He enjoyed race cars and college football, especially the Oklahoma Sooners. His favorite past-time was cooking Bar-b-queing on his “Pit”. He is survived by his mother, Jo Rogers and her husband, William Troy Rogers; one son, Tanner Yother; one sister, Joslyn and her husband, Mark Eaton; nieces and nephews: Jayson, Jr., Kelley Anne, Mackenzie, Ivy and Trista; his son’s mother, Dana Somers; his son’s half-sister, Amber Rangel and her four children; his son’s half-brother, Matthew Somers, along with a host of family, friends and loved ones. He is preceded in death by his father, J.T.; brother, Jayson Yother and nephew, Kyle Yother. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Wynnewood Cemetery in Wynnewood, Oklahoma at 2 p.m. under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Carl “Bud” Oran Butler Jr.
Carl ”Bud” Oran Butler, Jr., 70, went to be with The Lord on Monday, February 10, 2014. Bud was born on August 5, 1943 in Itasca, Texas to Carl Oran Butler and Mildred Lorraine Isbell Butler. He grew up in Alvarado, Texas and eventually moved to Palmer, Texas where he graduated from Palmer High School. In December 1961 he married Etheleen Krajca Butler and they made their home in Palmer. He began working for Tyler Refrigeration, where he drove a truck for many years. Bud thrived for any opportunity to fix things or build things. He was a man that loved to provide and support for his family and was defined by his work ethic and determination to succeed at any job, including bailing hay and farming whenever he was not driving a truck. Bud is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Ethie Butler, his son, Chad Butler; his daughter-in-laws: Renee Butler and Monica Butler; his four grandchildren: Magen Butler, Molloy Butler, Conner Butler and Tyler Butler; two great-grandchildren: Brady Sparkman and soon to be born Jolee Sparkman and four sisters: Gene Sadler, Barbara Hauser, Lynn Wickline and Patricia Paterson. Bud is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Carl Butler III. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. W.E. Manry
W. E. Manry, 77, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Friday, February 7, 2014. W. E. was born in Avant, Oklahoma on February 18, 1936 to Cecil Lee and Glendean (Hicks) Manry. He grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Eufala, Oklahoma. On December 6, 1958 he married Jean Satterwhite and they made their home originally in San Antonio, Oklahoma, back to San Antonio and finally to Ennis in 1961. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy serving during the Korean War. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for forty-two years retiring in 2008 as a conductor. He enjoyed fishing, working in the Pecan Orchard and doing landscaping. He is survived by his wife of over fifty-five years, Jean Manry; sons: Mason Manry and wife, Patricia, Morgan Manry and companion, Craig Kinne, Michael Manry and wife, Shannon, Dino Manry and wife, Bridget and Seth Manry and wife, Jennifer; one daughter, Leslie Manry and companion, Amy Allen; eleven grandchildren: two great-grandchildren; three brothers: Melvin Manry, Rex Manry and Randy Manry along with a numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He is preceded in death by one sister, Joy. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. Carol Waedekin, 75, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014 in Dallas, Texas. Carol was born on August 22, 1938 to Raymond Lee and Reba B. (Stewart) Easley in Oak Cliff, Texas. She grew up in Oak Cliff and graduated from Sunset High School in 1956. On April 26, 1963 she married John E. Waedekin, Sr. and they made their home in Hurst before moving to Ennis in 1972. She worked for Nationwide Computers and Ennis Business Forms before starting her own company the Clean Team. She was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis. She enjoyed ceramics, working with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts along with being a Band Booster. She is survived by sons: John Waedekin, Jr. and wife, Karen and Jerry Allen Waedekin and wife, Laura; daughter, Rene Whitley and husband, Ronney; seven grandchildren: three great-grandchildren: brother, Steven Lee Easley; sister, Suzanne Schmit along with many extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; Raymond and Reba Easley and her husband, John E. Waedekin, Sr. on July 26, 2001. Visitation was held on Monday, February 10, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. Lonis Kathleen McCormack Watson, 92 of Hilltop Lake, Texas passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 at her home. She was born September 30, 1921 in Bardwell, Texas to Elmer & Ollie Mae Sullivan McCormack and was raised in the Boyd and Rankin Community. She married George E. Watson from Howard, Texas. Lonis worked for many years for Northern Propane in Ennis, Texas as a bookkeeper. After the death of her husband in 1978, she traveled extensively throughout the world. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends and all that knew her and loved her. She is survived by her two daughters: Nancy Ann Elkins of Fayetville, Arkansas and Sydna Bass of Leona, Texas. Grandson: George Edward Watson of Ennis, Texas, Granddaughter: Suann Morre of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Great Grand Daughters: Cortney Owens of Houston, Texas and Katie Lynn Watson of Ennis, Texas; Great Grandson: Geno E. Allen of Paris, Texas; Nephews: Bill Sam McCormack of Oklahoma, Charles E. Shirley Childers Sills, 79, passed away on February 13, 2014. Shirley was born on November 14, 1934 to J.W. and Dorothy Childers in Bristol, Texas. She grew up in Bristol and graduated from Ferris High School. ON August 18, 1956 she married Jack B. Sills of Bardwell, Texas. She worked for the City of Ferris and The City of Ovilla. After retiring she enjoyed her Wednesday meeting with the ladies at the church, cooking, dancing and having fun with all her friends. Shirley is survived by two sons: Todd Sills and wife, Kristin, Scott Sills and wife, Delia; one granddaughter: Ryann Sills; three grandsons: Jonathan, Clifton and Brandon Sills; two sisters: Dixie and husband, Jack Odiorne, Janis Coleman; one brother, James Childers and wife, Kaye; brother-in-law, Bobby Guthrie along with nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jackie in 1974, sister, Elizabeth Guthrie and brother-in-law, Walter H. Coleman, Jr. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Mae Glenda Oliver Lynn
Mae Glenda Oliver Lynn, 74, died Sunday, February 16, 2014, at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. Born December 2, 1939, in Waxahachie, Texas, Glenda was the daughter of Clovis Wales Oliver, Sr. and Viola Hartsfield Oliver of Reagor Springs. She was reared at Ensign and was a cheerleader at Ennis High School. She moved to Fort Worth in 1957 where she met and married Homer Dean Boswell. His career with the US Air Force allowed them opportunities to live in several different states and Japan. She returned to Ennis in 1982 and was employed by Transportation Tax Specialists. In 2006, she married Coy Lynn of Centerville. Together they built a home in Eustace where they have lived for several years. Glenda gave her time weekly as a volunteer at ETMC Athens where she cared for new mothers and infants. She loved music and was a talented singer and pianist, sharing her talents with high school friends in the singing group “Sweet Harmony”. They performed at social events across the metroplex. A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, at the time of her death she was a member of the congregation of Eastern Hills in Athens. She greatly appreciated the cards, which she read daily, and the prayers she received from friends and her church family. She is survived by her husband, Coy Lynn; one son, Jeff Boswell of Austin and his two children; four daughters: Susan and Mel Kelder of Belton and their four children and four grandchildren; Stacie and David Beggs of Ennis and their three children and two grandchildren; Glenis and Tim Armstrong of Ennis and their three children; Amanda and Tommy Davis of Buffalo and their two children; and “adopted” Connie Easterling of Buffalo. She is also survived by three step-daughters: Lisa Lynn of Magnolia; Trisa Finney of Tomball; and Ladonna Cook of Tomball; six step-grandchildren and two step-great grand children, several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clovis Wales Oliver, Jr. and Bobby Ross Oliver. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Eastern Hills Church of Christ Women’s Ministry for New Mothers and Infants at 1200 E. Betty S. Fleming, 86, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Sunday, February 16, 2014. Betty was born in Mission, Texas on March 11, 1927 to Patrick J. and Essie (Gibbs) Sweeney. She grew up in Sharyland, Texas and graduated from Sharyland High School. She attended Baylor University and Southern Methodist University. On January 30, 1947 she married Ervin T. Fleming, III they lived in the Dallas area, then moved to Bristol in 1970 and she moved to Ennis in 1993. She was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis she was a volunteer at Helping Hands. She is survived by two sons: Tom Fleming and his wife Tess of Grand Prairie, Jim Fleming and his wife Lin of Whitney; daughters: Beth Cooper and her husband Greg of Fort Worth, Karen Haskovec and her husband Ronald of Ennis; four grandchildren: Lisa Majerus, Douglas Haskovec, Daniel Haskovec and David Haskovec and three great-grandchildren: Preston Majerus, Ethan Majerus and Lily Majerus. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ervin T. Fleming III, two sister, Mary Dale and Mary Sweeney and one brother, Buddy Sweeney. Henry Donald Walker
Henry Donald Walker, age 81, a resident of Ennis for 54 years, died Friday, February 21, 2013 at Ennis Care Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Forreston, Texas on October 16, 1932, to Henry & Willie Mae (Jarratt) Walker. He graduated from Forreston High School and proudly served his country in the Korean Conflict through 1953. After his return from Germany, he entered East Texas State University and began his post secondary education. After earning his BS and MEd at ETSU, he began his teaching career in Royse City and then moved to Waxahachie ISD before becoming principal at Ennis’ Travis Elementary in 1960. He also served as principal at Carver High School, Ennis Jr. High, and Sam Houston Elementary before becoming Assistant Superintendent in charge of Personnel & Transportation, a position he held until his retirement in 1998. His avocation included all kinds of livestock, gardening, and being outdoors with with nature. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He is survived by 3 children: Wes Walker of Tyler, Angela Tenney & her husband, Danny, of North Richland Hills, and Ryan & his wife , Jennifer, of Yukon, Oklahoma. 4 grandchildren: Stuart Royse Tenney of College Station, Emmaclaire Tenney of North Richland Hills, Marie & Jack Walker of Yukon, Oklahoma, and the mother of his children, Janet Royse Wakeland of Waxahachie. Don had made arrangements for his body to be donated to UTSW Medical School for research purposes. The family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Ennis. A celebration of his life will take place Sunday, March 2, 2013, at 2:00 at the First United Methodist Church in Ennis.

Florinda Smith, age 70 of Ennis, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014. She was born in Mathes, Texas on May 12, 1943 to Guadalupe (Cardona) and Jesus Rodriguez, Jr. Florinda married Joseph Smith on September 14, 1987 in Waxahachie. She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion. Florinda served as the Mayor of Garrett, as well as a member of the City Council of Garrett, and also served as a board member for Helping Hands. She also owned Flo’s Shirt Ventures. Survivors include her husband, Joseph Smith; children, Dora Patlan, Priscilla Patlan, and Feliciano Patlan III, all of Ennis; brother, Carlos Rodriguez of Dallas; granddaughters, Angela Martinez, Amanda Patlan, Amy Huggins, and Ashley Brown, all of Ennis; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Guadalupe Villanuava, sister, Maria Javamillo, and brother, Eduardo Rodriguez. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 6 to 8 P.M. with a Rosary at 7 P.M at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel in Ennis.
