Dorothy Margaret Kudrna, 88, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Monday, January 20, 2014. Dorothy was born on April 20, 1925 in Ennis, Texas to L. J. and Clara (Haskovec) Kudrna. She grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School. She worked for Kucera Department Store of Ennis, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and retired from Ennis Business Forms after thirty-two years of service in 1990. She was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Ennis Sewing Circle, SPJST #25 and RVOS. Dorothy is survived by sister-in-law, Dorothy J. Kudrna; nieces: Liz Moucka Krajca and husband, Ken; Karen Bingman and husband Randy; nephews: Gary Kudrna and wife, Paula; Glenn Kudrna and wife, Alvoy; Chris Kudrna and wife, Brenda; Kevin Kudrna and wife, Jennifer and fifteen great and grand nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, G. Louis Kudrna on November 8, 2005 and sister, Elizabeth Moucka on September 27, 2006. Alma M. Diaz, 70, passed away in Dallas, Texas on Friday, January 17, 2014. Alma was born in Laredo, Texas on August 9, 1943 to Amando and Manuela (Villarreal) Martinez. She grew up in Laredo and attended school in Laredo. On February 27, 1971 she married Rafael Diaz and they made their home in Laredo from 1971-1976, Madisonville from 1976 to 1988 and in Ennis since 1988. She was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Rafael Diaz; daughter, San Juanita Diaz; four grandchildren: Lizette Nicole Santos, Ivan Santos, LeAnn M. Arriaga and Allysa M. Santos; one brother, Alonzo Martinez and three sisters: Angelina Hernandez, Adela Sanchez and Alejanda Sanchez. She is preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Azenette Santos. Ramona Beasley Pruitt, age 53, of Ennis, was united with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 19, 2014. She was born on March 4, 1960 in Dallas, Texas, to Otis and Martha (Mays) Beasley. Ramona was Baptized at the First Baptist Church of Palmer on April 18, 197l. She married Jude Pruitt on November 21, 1986 in Palmer, Texas. Ramona was a loving wife, daughter, aunt, and friend. She loved to visit and laugh and talk. Ramona especially liked to talk and share about the Bible. Her favorite Bible verse was I Corinthians 2:9, “But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.” Survivors include her loving husband of 27 years, Jude Pruitt of Ennis; parents, Otis and Martha Beasley of Palmer; brother, Olen Nelson Beasley of Dallas, Texas; sister, Tammy Carty and her husband Josh of Welch, Texas; nieces and nephews, Ryan Elliott, Jade Carty, and Jasmine Carty. Anita Castillo, 61, passed away Saturday January 18, 2014 while surrounded by her family. Anita was born in Ennis, Texas on February 26, 1952 to Raymundo & Josefa (Pena) Castillo. She made Ennis her home her entire life. Ennis would be become home for her and her family. She was a loving & devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ennis, Texas. She always enjoyed life to the fullest and nothing could slow her down. Her family meant everything to her. The loves of her life were her brothers and sisters, her kids and especially her grandkids. She knew everyone and never met a stranger. She had a heart of gold. Her beauty showed inside and out. Her big heart was shared with everyone that crossed her path. She was a very giving, loving and extraordinary woman. She loved to cook and everyone knew what an awesome cook she was. She put her heart and soul into everything she did. Her smile and love lite up not only a room but this world. Floy Cooper, 93, beloved mother and grandmother passed away in Ennis, Texas on Saturday, February 1, 2014. Floy was born in Fallon, Texas on September 10, 1920 to Charles and Oneita (Callaway) Jackson. She grew up in Mexia and graduated from Mexia High School. She was married to Walter Lee Cooper and they made their home in Fort Worth, then to Ennis in 1953, to Fort Worth until 1958 when they returned to Ennis. Floy was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Ennis for over sixty years, the Eastern Star and the Willing Worker’s Sunday School Class. She enjoyed cooking and reading. Her great joy was caring for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by sons: Charles Cooper and wife, Ruby of Irving, Tim Cooper and wife, Janice of Ennis and Tom Cooper and wife, Donna of Ennis; daughter, Ann Williams and husband, Don of Waxahachie; ten grandchildren: fifteen great-grandchildren: two great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Charlena Kaliszewski of Houston. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Cooper, one brother and her great aunt Leita Clinkscale who raised her. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War, and worked as an HVAC technician for Blinn College. Radney Gillentine, age 62, passed away in Ennis on January 28, 2014. He was born on January 4, 1952 in Dallas to Bobby L. and Bobbye Marie (Pierce) Gillentine. He married Pamela Chambers on June 24, 1971 in Lancaster. Radney served in the United States Navy during the Viet Nam War, and was a member of the American Legion Post #361. Mabel Floyd was born July 28, 1918 in Crandall, Texas and went home to meet the Lord on February 1, 2014 in Waxahachie, Texas at the age of 95. Preceded in death by her husband Charlie Floyd, 2 daughters Maryann Floyd and Frances Hillger and 1 son Bobbie Floyd. Survived by daughter Charlene Ballard and husband Newell, 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Mabel was a faithful member of Bardwell Church of Christ and has been a faithful Christian all of her life. The family takes great comfort in knowing that she is walking hand in hand with her Lord and Savior in Heaven. Family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday February 3, 2014 at Roselawn. Donald E. (Blackie) Claxton Former Ellis County resident, Donald E. (Blackie) Claxton passed away in Austin, TX on January 15, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Italy, TX on January 10, 1929. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Nell Wood Claxton, daughters Donna Johnson (Bobby), Rita Stringer (Michael), and son Brent Claxton (Berkeley), six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Claxton was a graduate of Ennis High School and North Texas State University; attended SMU law school, and was retired from Hartford Insurance Company. He was a Navy veteran. Michael Anthony Dlabaj, 56, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Wednesday, February 5, 2014. Michael was born in Ennis, Texas on December 31, 1957 to Albin Anton and Mildred Dolores (Holy) Dlabaj. He grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1976. In September of 2004 he married Mary Jane Martinez and they made their home in Bardwell and then to Garrett. He served his country proudly in the United States Marines from 1977 until 1980 serving in Guam. He worked for Advanced Plumbing for several years as a plumber, for Elk Corporation and James Hardie Construction in maintenance. He was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, KJT and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
