Nancy Neal, age 64, passed away in Corsicana on May 31, 2013. She was born in Ennis on November 16, 1948 to Jesse J. and Billye L. (Cheek) McCarty. On October 30, 1971, she married Andrew C. Neal in Jasper, Texas. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Nancy is survived by her husband of 42 years, Andy Neal; daughter, Billye Germain and her husband Matt of Corsicana; daughter-in-law, Cindy Neal of Kirvin, Texas; four grandchildren, Tracy Neal, Trey Holloway, Breanna Germain, and Rhett Germain; sister, Barbara Raney and her husband Winston of Ennis; brother, Mike McCarty and his wife Shelly of Palmer; aunt, Larue Jenkins; numerous nieces and nephews; many cousins; and best friend, Mary Lusk. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Billye McCarty, son, Scotty Neal, and brother, Jimmy McCarty. J.T. Goodnight, 86, of Amarillo died Monday, May 27, 2013. Memorial services were at 4 p.m. on Sunday at Chapel of First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. J.T. was born June 14, 1927 in Swartz, La., to Horace and Robbie Goodnight. He was raised in Dumas where he was a graduate of Dumas High School. He served his country in the Navy in World War II. After his military service, he married Yvonne Painter on Nov. 27, 1947, in Sunray. They moved to Amarillo in 1949 and he attended West Texas State University. He owned and operated Y&J Transfer in Amarillo for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1989. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling all over the world with his wife. He loved playing golf and spending time with his friends. He loved his Lord, family and his church with all of his heart. Most of all, he loved spending time being Granddad to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of First Baptist Church for 50 years where served as a deacon. His family are following his wishes and donating his body to Texas Tech Medical School for research. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Judah; and a sister, Billie Jean. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne of Amarillo; a son, Scott Goodnight and wife Jackie of Amarillo; three daughters, Marsha Chapman and husband Ken of Ennis, Debbie Portwood and her life partner Greg Moore of Castle Pines, Colo., and Becky Fowler of DeSoto; a sister, Hilda Hinds of Midland; grandchildren, Melissa, Amy, Brent, Mandy, Elizabeth, Jake and James; eight great-grandchildren, Maddie, Gabe, Mercy, Jackson, Jude, Zoe, Lucy and Emmy. Cecil Horton Campbell, 66, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013 in Red Oak, Texas. Cecil was born in Chatfield, Texas, to Algy Cecil and Mildred Grace Campbell on May 27, 1947. He grew up in Ennis, Texas and graduated from Ennis High School in 1965. On September 21, 1993 he married Elizabeth Lorraine Gutierrez and they made their home in Red Oak. He worked for Quest for twenty-three years as a production manager. He enjoyed NASCAR, playing the guitar. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Campbell of Red Oak: daughter, Angelena Crain and her husband Michael Bush of Red Oak; two grandchildren: Alexandria and Gabielle; his mother, Mildred Prestidge of Ennis; sisters Carolyn Cox of Ennis, Kathy Smart of Mabank; step sister, Teresa Jones of Ennis, and several nieces and nephews. Janie Marie Moseley-Harrelson, 65, surrounded by her family, gave up her brave fight with cancer, and won her victory in Jesus, Wednesday evening, May 29, 2013. Janie was born on March 22, 1948, Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas to the late James Thomas Moseley and Virgie Marie Hubbbard. She loved her family, and she enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, fishing, playing pinochle and her various and sundry cats, dogs, birds, and ferrets. It is true that she never met an animal that she didn’t like. She was beautiful, charming, and she never met a stranger. She was married to Richard O. Harrelson. They loved each other very much and were side by side to the very end at their home. She loved her time with her sister Joyce and husband Gary at their home in Rice. During the last three years she spent much of her time with her daughter Kathleen and son-in-law Steve McCully in Fort Worth, and shared a very special relationship with them. She was baptized at and was a member of the Southside Church of Christ where she found particular comfort and joy in her last years. She was preceded in death by her son, Sean Allen Simpson, and her parents. She is survived by her husband, Richard Odell Harrelson; her children, Kathleen and Steve McCully, Eddie and Jenny Martin, and Jesse Ferry; eight grandchildren: Garrick, A.J., Chase, Zachary, Jaymee, Tristan, Brandy and Chloe; sisters and brother, Judy and Bill McNair, Joni Moseley, Joyce and Gary Hutchins, and James Allen Moseley; and many other family and friends. She is greatly loved and will be deeply missed. Helen Marie Gibson, age 87, died June 10, 2013 at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie. She was born November 7, 1925 in Dallas, TX to F. M. Dickerson and Beatrice Vinson Dickerson. She was a member of the Saner Avenue Church of Christ and former member of Brown Street Church of Christ. Helen was a wonderful person. She truly loved and dedicated her life to her family. The imprint she made in the lives of her children and family will remain forever. She had a quiet but powerful influence on everyone who knew her. It is the little things our hearts will always remember. Helen was a mother to love and cherish. She wa a caretaker and comforter. She was a friend and someone who believed in you. All that knew Helen were richer by far just for knowing her. She played a part in making this world a better place. James R. Phillips Sr.
James R. Phillips, Sr., 81, passed away in Temple, Texas on Monday, June 10, 2013. James was born in Smackover, Arkansas on July 9, 1931 to Laron Fuller and Ora Lee (Finch) Phillips, Sr. He received his high school honors from Odessa Permian and attended Paris Junior College. On June 9, 1953 he married Faye Moore. He served his country proudly in the United States Army in the Korean War from 1950 until 1954. They lived in Alexandria, Virginia, Paris, Texas, Palmer, Texas and then to Waxahachie, Texas in 2009. He worked for DallasAirmotive for thirty seven years until his retirement in 1997, he also worked as a truck driver for Ellis County and for seven years with WalMart in the assembly department, the garden department and as a greeter. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Palmer where he served as a deacon, the Lions Club and was a volunteer for the Palmer Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading westerns, military and detective books. He is survived by his wife, Faye Phillips of Waxahachie: four sons: James R. Phillips, Jr. of Waxahachie, Ken Phillips and his wife, Linda of Garrett, Keith DeWayne Phillips and his wife, Donna of Waxahachie and Timothy W. Phillips of Plano; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. Visitation will be Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Palmer. A Celebration of his life will take place on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Frances Hejny, 77, passed away in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. Frances was born in Fannin County on January 7, 1936 to Roy William and Verna Mae (Carpenter) Adamson. She grew up in Dallas and graduated from Forrest Avenue High School in 1954 she went on to attend Dallas College of Business. On October 29, 1955 she married Wesley W. Hejny and they made their home in Dallas. She worked for Southwestern Bell for over thirty-one years until her retirement in 1993 as a PBX operator. She enjoyed reading her favorite subjects were mystery and romance. She is survived by one son, Billy Joe Hejny of Balch Springs, Texas; two daughters: Carolyn and her husband, Ruben Gonzales of Midlothian, Texas and Deborah and her husband Johnny Hubacek of Dallas; seven grandchildren: six great-grandchildren and her mother, Verna Adamson of Balch Springs, Texas. She is preceded in death by her father, Roy Adamson on January 29, 2007 and her husband, Wesley W. Hejny on May 19, 1995. Manuel DeLaFuente, 49, was born July 4, 1963 was called to the Lords home on June 9, 2013. Manuel attended Ennis High School. Manuel was joined in matrimony to Patricia Peralta on June 16, 2012 and they made their home in Mesquite, Texas. Manuel was a friend of friend, with a heart of gold for everyone. His love was unconditionally and without judgement. Manuel worked for DeLaFuente Masonary Company for many years. He also worked as a maintenance man for Allredhurst Apartments in Mesquite. Manuel was proceeded in death by a brother Juan DeLaFuente in 2009. Dorothy Mae Chandler, age 85 of Ennis, Texas passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013. She was born on November 5, 1927 in Dallas, Texas to Amos and Minnie Laurence. Dorothy’s favorite thing to do was yard work and working in her garden and she also enjoyed sewing. She was a fine Christian woman who adored her family. Emilie “Millie” Patak Trojacek, 90, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Friday, July 5, 2013. Millie was born in Creechville, Texas on July 12, 1922 to Rudolph and Lillian (Nekuza) Patak. She grew up in Creechville. On February 14, 1953 she married Leslie Trojacek and they made their home in Garrett, Texas. She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and KJZT #16. She enjoyed gardening, canning (especially pickles), quilting with her mother, making over thirty quilts over the years and helping out on the family farm. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of over 59 years of marriage, Leslie Trojacek on April 20, 2012 and one brother. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 7, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rosary at 6 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Monday, July 8, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Father John Dick as Celebrant.
