She was a homemaker, member of New Hope Baptist Church and was especially known throughout the community for her garage sales. She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Mary Muzik; brother, Don Muzik; sister, Mary Garrett. Survivors include her husband, Michael Bolt of Atlanta, Texas; one son, Robbie Carlson and wife Debbie of Locksburg, Arkansas; two daughters, Nina Hawley and husband T.J. of Bloomburg, Texas, Anna Wright and husband Charles of Texarkana, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Steve Dlabaj of Bloomburg, Texas, Jonethan LaCasse of Bloomburg, Texas, Chase Burkhalter of Bloomburg, Texas, Zackery Burkhalter of Bloomburg, Texas; two nephews, Doug Garrett and wife Rhonda of Allen, Texas, Gene Garrett of Dallas, Texas; a niece, Laurette Muzik of Pasadena, Texas; sister in law, Lila Muzik of Pasadena, Texas; two close friends, Mary Ross of Bloomburg, Texas, Linda Blizzard of Bloomburg, Texas and a number of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Hanner Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. T.J. Bolt officiating. 2073499Albert “Sonny Boy” Arthur, 70, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Sonny Boy was born in Fort Worth, Texas on July 29, 1942 to Albert and Edith Marie (Reed) Arthur. He grew up in Fort Worth and attended school there. On January 25, 1979 he married Linda Walling and they made their home in Garrett, Texas. He worked for Dallas City Packing for over thirty years until his retirement in 1995 in the maintenance department. He enjoyed wood-working, fishing, painting in oils and pastels, Nascar and camping. He is survived by sons: Kelly Arthur and his wife Sally of Bristol and Vince Arthur of Bristol; step-son, Jason Curry of Dallas; daughter, Casey and her husband Rodney Caldwell of Palmer; his first wife, Barbara Pistole of Bristol; eleven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers: Tommy Arthur and John Arthur both of Fort Worth and two sisters: Edith Norris of Justin and Judy Childs of Fort Worth. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Linda Arthur on June 15, 2012 and four sisters. Mr. J. M. Eitel, 76, of Ennis, passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Dallas, Texas April 30, 2013. J. M. was born and reared in the northeast Texas town of De Kalb. He was born September 8, 1936 to Marvin and Mabel (Wilson) Eitel. He graduated from De Kalb High School. After graduation, he served in the U. S. Army from 1954 – 1959. On January 26, 1959 he was married to Bettie Reeves in El Paso, Texas. They made their home in Lovelady, Texas before moving to Ennis in 1976. Following his service in the Army, J. M. spent several years as a self-employed diesel mechanic in multiple locations. He loved to fish. J. M. is survived by his wife, Bettie; daughters: Lorrye, and her husband John Taylor and Wendye, and her husband, Chuck Ellison; three sisters: Sally, and her husband, Kenneth Keeles, Ophelia Litton and Mary Lee; four grandchildren: Cassidye, Zachary, Abigail and Jeremiah. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Vick Eitel. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Old Cedar Cemetery (Cedar Creek Community), De Kalb, Texas under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Eloise Calhoun, 89, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Wednesday, May 1, 2013. Eloise was born on August 21, 1923 to Thomas and Geraldine (Baldridge) Holland in Alma, Texas. She worked for many years at Dan’s Towne House and then for Ray Glenn and Jerry Wester at the Avenue Drive In. She was a member of the Fundamental Baptist Church of Palmer and a former member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church of Ennis. She was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She loved all of her large family and they all knew how much she loved and cared for them. She is survived by sons: Butch Calhoun and Reggie Calhoun; daughters: Sandra Kinsler, Sharon and her husband, Harry Gooch, Nancy and her husband, Everett Robinson, Debra Williams and Dana Farris; twelve grandchildren: thirty great-grandchildren: two great-great-grandchildren and one sister Melba Smith. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Wayland, Thomas and Kenneth Holland and one grandson, Shaun Robinson. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of her life will take place in the Fundamental Baptist Church of Palmer on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Gary Miller and James Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Linda Boon Sullivan Willis, 71, born May 2, 1941, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in Jacksonville, Florida. A longtime resident of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and Savannah, Georgia, Mrs. Willis was born in Ennis, Texas and is preceded in death by her parents, E.H. and Hazel Boon and her brothers, Col. Ivan G. Boon (Ret.) of Cleburne, Texas and E.K. Boon of Ennis, Texas. Much of Linda’s professional life was spent in the field of politics and government. She served in Washington as Appointment Secretary to the Honorable Ralph W. Yarborough, Democratic senator from Texas, and as Executive Assistant to the Honorable Charlie Wilson, Democratic congressman from Texas. After moving to Jacksonville, Florida, she served as Senior Citizens Coordinator for the Honorable Jake M. Goldbold, Mayor of Jacksonville. Although she continued to hold a lifelong interest in government and politics, she entered the business world in the early 1980’s and became President of Duke Properties, Inc. Linda is survived by her beloved husband and best friend, Lynwood G. Willis, of Jacksonville, Florida and Savannah, Georgia; her brothers, Jimmy Valson Boon and Alvis T. Boon, of Ennis, Texas; and her sisters, Hazel Boon Tidwell, Iris Boon Ball, Marilyn Boon Linsteadt, of Ennis, Texas, and Janis Boon Dalley of Austin, Texas, and Susan Boon Schwartz, of Prescott Valley, Arizona. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Ginger Boon and Earlene Boon, of Ennis, Texas, Melinda Boon of Houston, Texas and Gloria Boon, of Cleburne, Texas; and her brothers-in-law, Robert Linsteadt of Ennis, Texas, Ward Dalley of Austin, Texas and Russell Schwartz of Prescott Valley, Arizona; and by many beloved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. In addition, Linda is also survived by her step-daughters, Kathleen Willis Greer and her husband, William P. Greer, of Jacksonville, Florida, Linda Willis Moore and her husband, Don Moore, of Sammamish, Washington, Julia Willis Kimmerly and her husband, Mark Kimmerly, of Kirkland, Washington, and Ashley Grayson Willis, of Jacksonville, Florida; and her four grandchildren by marriage, Thomas Braxton Adamson and his wife Kaley P. Adamson, of Jacksonville, Florida, Jennifer Courtney Moore and Robert Willis Moore, of Sammamish, Washington, and Parker Jane Kimmerly, of Kirkland, Washington. A person at home in many environments, Linda was never as happy as when she was with her family and friends. She had a passion for the written word and used her talents for writing to honor through poetry and prose those whom she loved. Gifted with a very generous spirit, she delighted in sharing her time, knowledge and material goods with the young people in her life. With her family, she was instrumental in founding two non-profit organizations, both of which are successful and make a difference in the lives of others. Betty Marie Emerson, 83, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Saturday, May 4, 2013. Betty Marie Emerson was born on January 20, 1930 in Ennis, Texas to Riley and Mable Garrett. She grew up in Ennis where she met the love of her life Lonnie Emerson, the two married on November 20, 1948. Together they had two sons, Riley and Charles Emerson. The four made a life in Ennis, Texas. Betty is survived by son, Riley and Sharon Emerson, their daughter Jessica Emerson; son, Charles Emerson and Debbie Martin their two daughters Stacy Ortiz and Chrissy Strahl: seven great-grandchildren: sisters Lila, Genie, Helen and brothers: Allen and Floyd. Betty was the best grandmother, mother, wife and daughter we all loved her and everyone who met her loved and cared for her as the family did. She loved her family in ways no one else could. She will reside in Heaven with her husband Lonnie, great granddaughter Britney and her sisters and brothers. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 6 p.m until 8 p.m. in the J.E. She was born on May 6, 1934 in Robstown, Texas, the daughter of Refugio and Benigna (Palomo) Gutierrez. Maria moved from Robstown to Ennis in 1967. Survivors include two sons, Greg Vargas and his wife Irma of Ennis and Tony Vargas and his wife Mary Ester of Ennis; six grandchildren, Norma, Noe, Leo, Joel, Tony Orlando, and Gregory; twelve great grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Pascuala Baiza and Angelita Gutierrez; one brother-in-law, Merced Vargas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is reunited in Heaven with her husband of more than 50 years, Antonio Vargas, Sr., her parents; three brothers, and four sisters. The family received friends from 6 to 8 P.M. with a Rosary at 7 P. M. on Monday, May 6, 2013 in Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Ennis, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 A.M. today, Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, with Father John Dick as Celebrant. Earl RichardsonEarl Richardson, 77, went to be his Lord on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Blackford officiating. Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the funeral home. Earl was born and raised in Mart, where he graduated high school in 1954. He went on to earn a Master’s degree in Education and Administration from North Texas and TCU. He spent most of his life helping students as a teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent at Palmer ISD. He then worked as a jailer at Limestone County Sheriff’s Department until retiring again. He enjoyed spending time with his family above all else. He also enjoyed working in the yard, watching old westerns, cooking for everyone, and feeding the birds. Earl leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Lisa M. Richardson; his sons, David Richardson of Carrolton, Cory Richardson and wife Betty of Forsan, Kevin Richardson of Cypress; his daughters, Jessica Richardson of Waxahachie, Kristi Burger and husband John of Waco; Brothers Charles Richardson of Donie, and Melvin Richardson of Brazoria; sister, Barbara Bray and husband Robert of Waco; grandsons, Bryce, Ty, Kobe, Jace, Seth, Gage and Trey; in–laws, Don and Pat Stinnett of Woodway; and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his father, William Pace Richardson; mother, Flora Rivers; brother, Walter Richardson; and sisters, Katherine Jarad, Laura Stump, and Betty Richardson. David RuddDavid Lee Rudd 66 of Yantis, former lifelong resident of Waxahachie went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, May 3, 2013 near Quinlan. Funeral services celebrating David’s life were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan with Wes Coleson officiating; burial followed at Union Cemetery near Yantis. Pallbearers were Chase Rudd, Ryan Richards, Reuben “B.R.” Montemayor, Roger “Bubba” Montemayor, Eric Montemayor and Billy Benner David was born June 17, 1946 in Painesville, Ohio. He is the son of the late R.D. and Jewel Crisp Rudd. He came to Nash, Texas at the age of 2 where he was raised and attended school in Forreston. His brother Bobby Watson also preceded him in death. After graduating high school, he entered the United States Army and honorably served our country during the Vietnam Conflict. After his military stay, he returned to Waxahachie where he worked as a truck driver for 40 years, retiring in May 2009. He married the former Miss Rita Godwin on February 12, 2000 and they moved to Yantis, Texas near Lake Fork where David enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed camping, entering fishing tournaments with his brother-in-law Wayne and just riding around in the country. He is loved and will be missed by his wife Rita; sons, Jed Rudd & wife Stacia of Granbury, Daniel Rudd of Waxahachie and Joseph Rudd of Addison. Maria “Licha” Gutierrez, 73, passed away in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, May 7. 2013. Licha was born on April 19, 1940 to Fortino and Lena (Toscano) Gaona. She married Francisco Gutierrez in 1958. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all she met. She enjoyed gardening. She was a proud member of the Templo de Power Church and loved her church and church family. She is survived by sons: Frank Gutierrez, Freddie Gutierrez, Rafel Gutierrez, Ramiro Gutierrez, Joe L. Gutierrez, Armando Gutierrez and Clint Gutierrez; daughters: Yolanda Gutierrez, Lupe Arriaga, Gracie Maliska, Corina Gutierrez, Sylvia Gutierrez, Susie Olivera and Lisa Gutierrez; thirty-nine grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; several great-great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Juan Gaona and Jesus Gaona; sister, Linda Gomez and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Francisco Gutierrez, sons, Rolando Gutierrez and Joe Gutierrez along with several brothers and sisters. Irma Marina Maldonado, 73, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013 in Ennis, Texas. Irma was born in Via Cuna, Mexico on December 31, 1939 to Julio and Martha Emma (Cuevas) Saenz. She grew up in New Orleans, LA and attended school there. On February 14, 1963 she married Julio E. Maldonado and they moved to Texas and have lived in Ennis for the past thirty-five years. She was the manager of a Long John Silver’s restaurant. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She loved to cook, sew and crochet. She is survived by sons: John Perry Maldonado and his wife, Rebecca of Garrett, Rick Maldonado and his wife, Pat of Ennis and Julio Maldonado, Jr. of Rice; daughters: Jonnice and her husband Robert Berkbigler of Perryville, MO and Cindy Maldonado of Waco; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Henry Wesley Odlozil, Sr.Henry Odlozil full obit 051213, 86, passed away in Dallas, Texas early Friday, May 10, 2013. Henry was born in Ennis, Texas on February 7, 1927 to Josef and Frances (Vavra) Odlozil. He grew up in Ennis and graduated from St. John High School. He married Mary Jane Slovak of Bardwell on February 15, 1949, and they made their home in Dallas for seventeen years before moving to Ennis. He served his country proudly in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II in the Pacific and Atlantic Theatres. He worked for Dallas- Fort Worth Brewing Company for four years and for Prior Products in Dallas for forty years as a fabrication manager. He then worked for Quality Running Gear in Royce City for six years, and was also a part time rancher and farmer. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis and helped in the construction of the church. He was also a member of KJT, Knights of Columbus and lifetime member of the Ennis A & M Club. He had his private pilot’s licenses for sixty-six years and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter #168. He enjoyed gardening, motorcycles and aviation. He owned the Flying “O” farm airstrip in Bardwell. He was a great fabricator and shade tree mechanic. He loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a fan of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. He owned and restored a 1947 Champion airplane. When the Ennis Airport was in the planning phases he was an avid supporter of the Ennis Municipal Airport. He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Mary Jane Odlozil; son, Henry W. “Buckshot” Odlozil, Jr. and his wife Kennette of Pineville, LA: daughters; Catherine and her husband, Rodger Hefner of Ennis, Janice and her husband, James Kirk of Mansfield, Cynthia Odlozil of Ennis and Mary and her husband, Mike Minter of Ennis: grandchildren; Heather Hefner, Samantha Cervantes and husband, Oscar, Jodie Odlozil and wife, Nikki, Nicholas Odlozil, Mason Odlozil, Kelly Jones and husband, Allen, Lisa Speer and husband, Grant, Dianna Glenn and husband Joe, DeLayna Navarro and husband Carlos: great-grandchildren; Guy and Grant Cervantes, J.R. and Hayden Odlozil, Beryl Odlozil, Ryan Henry and Emily Jones, Abigale Speer, Ava Jo, Jackson and Kate Glenn: sister’s-in-laws; Theresa Odlozil and Patsy Odlozil, Anna Lee and George Toth, Joyce Slovak; brother-in-law, Robert Slovak and wife, Merrijo, along with a host of other family and friends. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Rosary following at 6 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial was held on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Father Fred Caldwell and Father Henry Drozd as celebrants. Pallbearers were son: Henry Wesley (Buckshot) Odlozil Jr., grandson’s: Jodie Odlozil, Nicholas Odlozil, Mason Odlozil great grandson: Grant Cervantes and long time family friend, David Hunter. joe-obit-picJoseph Adolph Schlebach, age 71, left his earthly home to be reunited with loved ones in Heaven on May 14, 2013. Joseph was born on April 7, 1942, in the same house where his mother was born, Dodson Prairie, Palo Pinto County, Texas to John Joseph and Clara Rose Popp Schlebach. He grew up in Talty, Kaufman County and later Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Crozier Technical High School in 1960. He served in the US Army from l962 to 1965, and was stationed in Germany. He went to work for AT&T in 1965, retiring in 2000 with 35 years service from SBC. On December 20, 1969, he married Carolyn Trahan. He was a member of Ellis County Genealogical Society, Telephone Pioneers, St. John Golden Crusaders, Crozier Tech Alumni Association, Knights of Columbus Council 1353, and Monsignor James I. Tucek Assembly 2265. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. Joe enjoyed working outside in the yard. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carolyn; his three daughters, Michelle Mahone and her husband Jason, Kimberley Wall, and Caren Lawrence and her husband Timothy; grandchildren, Aime Wall, Hayden, Ryan, and Makenna Mahone, and Joseph William “JW” Lawrence; sisters, Laura and Emil Bolcik, Joann Markham; brother John Paul and Kay Schlebach; in-laws, Jimmie and Bobbie Trahan; sister-in-laws, Sandra Taylor and Janice and husband Gene McAda; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Elizabeth Nicole in 2009; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Amanda Lawrence in 2012. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. with a Rosary at 7 P.M. on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Ennis, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, with Father John Dick as Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Ennis, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
