MARY EDNA ISOM NEWMAN

Mary Edna Isom Newman, 80, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 9, 2016, in

Ennis, Texas.

Edna was born in Ennis, Texas, on December 19, 1935, to Moley D. and Zula E. (Matthews) Isom. She grew up in

Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School. On October 12, 1956, she married Charles Newman and they made

their home in Ennis where they have remained.

She worked for the Ennis ISD for over 30 years as a Library Aide, she had previously worked for Southwestern Bell

and Pacific Bell in the billing department.

She was a member of the Bardwell United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge of Ennis, MAAGS, and was past

treasurer of the Central High Fire Department. She enjoyed flower gardening and traveling.

She is survived by her husband of over 59 years, Charles Newman; sons: Gregory Newman, Charles Todd

Newman and wife Regina, and Johnny Newman and wife Michelle; daughters: Julie Evans and husband Terry, and

Connie Oates and husband Kevin; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Jeaneta Morris; and one

sister-in-law, Laura Jean Isom.

She is preceded in death by her parents; great-grandson, Clayton Hernandez; five brothers: Billy, Cecil, Forrest,

George Wade “Buck” and Wilton; and one sister, Mazel Fulton.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary

Chapel of Ennis with Dr. Larry Jinks officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Oates, Jared Oates, Jordan Oates, J.D.

Miller, Alan Evans, Justin Shockley, Ben Sylvester and Ray Hernandez. Interment will be held in Myrtle Cemetery

under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Bardwell First United Methodist Church, Cowboy

Church of Ennis, Central High Fire Department or Meals on Wheels.
