Sylvia Fira Rodriguez, age 53, passed away in Waxahachie on December 30, 2015. She was born in Sinton to Victor and Delia (Fira) Rodriguez on August 21, 1962. She always volunteered with the Fira family functions. She managed soccer teams for many years, and did fund raising for soccer. She was an Animal Rescue Advocate. Sylvia graduated with top honors from Wilmer-Hutchins High School and attended East Texas State University. She was surrogate parent to Alicia and Victor Rodriguez.
She is survived by her father, Victor Rodriguez and wife Mary; mother, Delia Fira; brother, Victor Rodriguez, Jr.; nieces, Alicia Rodriguez and Sylvia Rodriguez; nephew, Victor Michael Rodriguez; uncles, Frank Fira and wife Guadalupe; Raul Fira and wife Celia, Rene Fira and wife Janie, Gilbert Fira and wife Evie, Ben Fira and wife Rhonda, Gus Fira and wife Lona; aunts, Ophelia Esparza and husband John, Oralia Davis, and Dora Martinez, and husband Amando; and many cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Ennis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2016, at Saint John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father John Dick as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Ennis.
