On May 27, 2015, Frank Joseph Mikula returned to his Heavenly Father after completing his life’s work. At an early age, he came to know and love The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Frankie was born on Aug. 16, 1936, at his family’s farm in Ennis, Texas, to Frank A and Mary L Mikula and had four siblings: Mary Ann (Benny) Cepak, Geraldine (Richard) Pruett, Edwin (Lucy) Mikula and Debbie (James) Macik. He earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University, where he studied Philosophy. Those who spent any time with Frank knew he took those courses to heart. He spent a career teaching and in banking IT.
His most important achievement was marrying the love of his life, Roberta, 33 years ago. Through it all, they had fun. Joined together, they loved and guided three children: Tom (Diana), Kim and Patti (Charles) Troupe. Grandchildren and great grandchildren made MUF’s (Mr. Uncle Frank) eyes sparkle. Frank was very proud and protective of his family and friends. He bragged at their accomplishments and wept at their heartaches.
Frank relished his Czech heritage. He may even now be drinking a beer while listening to his dad play the accordion, waiting on his mom to serve klobasa and kolaches. To say Frank loved life and lived it to the fullest would be a major understatement. The world is a less interesting place without Frank Mikula. He will live in our hearts forever.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, June 5, at 1 p.m. at In Christ The King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Road, Dallas, TX 75225.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Frank’s name to the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center, PO Box 6, La Grange, TX 78945.
