Helen Warren, resident of Frost, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 25, 2014 at the age of 93. She was born August 30, 1920 in Milford, Texas to Walter Crumpton and Mary Elizabeth Dalton Crumpton. After graduating from Milford High School, she married Charlie Warren on June 19, 1940. Before his passing, they were married for 53 years. Helen was an active member of Frost Baptist Church and was very dedicated to her church by tending to the nursery for many years and more recently serving on several committees. She loved gospel music, especially the Gaithers. For years she enjoyed tending to her garden and canning. She shared her crop with many Frost residents. She was a wonderful cook and those who knew her loved her pecan pralines. She was a professional seamstress who sewed for many local residents. She was also the book keeper for over 30 years for her and her husband’s company, Warren Bros. Construction.
She left a legacy of love to her family and had a close relationship with each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Nita Doherty and husband Gerald and Karen Hudson and husband Jimmy; two daughter-in-laws, Nell Warren and Vera Warren; one brother, Troy Crumpton; nine grandchildren, Todd Hinkle, Melissa Maass, Tiffany Garland, Pam Bailey, Forrest Warren, Susanne Vanderschee, Brandi Erwerle, Brad Doherty and Zach Warren; sixteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Charlie Warren; sons, Charles Crumpton Warren and Ronald Douglas Warren and numerous brothers and sisters. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 6-8pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Service will be 10:00am Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Frost Baptist Church with Jason Wilder officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery, Mertens, Texas.
Pallbearers are: Robert Lynn Ballew, Ronald Elmore, Kenneth Hastings, Dan Lunsford, Caleb Martin and Ricky Williams. Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Frost Baptist Church.
