Dwight Ray House

Dwight Ray House, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2015, in Ennis, Texas.

Dwight was born in Artesia, New Mexico, on March 24, 1925, to Robert and Cora (Bennett) House. He grew up in Artesia and graduated from Artesia High School. He served his country proudly as a pilot in the United States Navy during World War II before graduating from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. On February 2, 1952, he married Frances Imogene Fisher, and they made their home in Ennis.

He worked as a sales manager at Ennis Business Forms for many years before becoming self-employed. He was a Charter Member and Deacon of Baylor Baptist Church, where he also sang in the choir. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he also loved sharing a laugh with friends.
His memory will be cherished most by his loving family, including his wife of 63 years, Imogene House; daughters, Julie McLelland and husband Ethan; and Nancy Haning and husband Ben; six grandchildren: James Stephens and wife Lynette, Matthew Stephens and wife Kristy, Cody Stephens, Katie Haning, Haley Minkley and husband Michael, and Stephen Haning; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Betty Tims. He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, five sisters, and two nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 27, 2015, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A celebration of his life will take place on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Johnny Mansell officiating. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Dwight’s name at Baylor Baptist Church.

Felecita Garcia Martinez, 81, passed away in Ennis, Texas, on Monday, August 24, 2015.

Felecita was born in Campbellton, Texas, on July 29, 1934, to Pablo and Jesusa (Benividez) Garcia. She grew up in South Texas. On October 23, 1951, she married Guadalupe Martinez. They made their home in Mathis, Texas, before moving to Ellis County in 1959.
She worked as a seamstress from home, creating for those who needed her special talent. She enjoyed gardening. She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis.

She is survived by her husband of over sixty-four years, Guadalupe L. Martinez; three sons: Richard Martinez, Ralph Martinez and Jesse Martinez; seven daughters: Adelina Salazar, Adela Martinez, Angie Dent, Anita Martinez, Amelia Valdez, Diane Arreola and Rachel Knight; forty grandchildren: fifty-seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; three sons: Pablo (Negra), Domingo (Mingo) and Rodolfo (Rudy) Martinez; one daughter, Anna Marie; one brother and one sister.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 27, 2015, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Friday, August 28, 2015, at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

Betty Jeanette Mitchell

Betty Jeanette Christian Mitchell went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 25, 2015, after a brief, courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Ennis, Texas, on October 31, 1936, and graduated from Ennis High School. She was married and widowed shortly thereafter to Lt. C.A. Waedekin Jr. from 1955-1956. She was later married to William Donald Mitchell and enjoyed forty-four years of marriage from 1958-2002 until his passing. They had two children, Donna Denise Mitchell Galvin and Randall Edward Mitchell. In 1960 they moved to Dallas and raised their family. Betty attended nursing school and practiced nursing in the Dallas area for twenty-eight years. The family were active members of the Lakeside Baptist Church.

After retirement, Betty and Don returned to Ennis and became members of the Tabernacle Baptist Church. Betty belonged to the Ennis Heritage Society, Century Club and a quilting club. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, playing the piano in her Sunday school class, and spending time with family and friends.
Betty is survived by her son Randy; daughter, Denise; son-in-law, Patrick Galvin; and grandsons: Connor and Tyler Galvin. Other surviving family member are brothers: Bobby Christian, Donnie Christian, Cecil Christian; and sister, Dorothy McCoy. She also has many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Edward James Christian and Lillie Serene Shaw Christian, brother, James Christian, sister-in-law, Jeanette Christian, nephew, Gary Christian and grandson Ryan Galvin.

Betty loved her family and friends very much but most of all she loved the Lord. She was a woman of great integrity, charity, and a friend to all who knew her. The memories of her sweet, kind personality will be with us forever. She touched numerous lived in many ways and above all else, always placed the needs of others first before her own. The world is a better place today because of the kindness and deeds she gave to others.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. Family will receive friends and family for viewing prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Betty and her family request donations be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church or personal choice of charity.

Presley “Lee” McClain

Presley Lee McClain peacefully left this world on Sunday, August 23, 2015. Lee was born in Ennis, Texas, on November 9, 1938, to Robert and Byral Dean McClain. After the death of his mother, Lee and his siblings were raised by his Uncle Luther and Aunt Vianna McClain.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents; aunt and uncle; sister Betty (McClain) Springer; and brother Bobby McClain. He is survived by his nephew Bill Springer and wife Bonnie; three nieces: Dianne McClain and partner Laura Davis, Terri McKay and husband Terry, and Judi McClain; and his sister-in-law, Maxine McClain. He was also loved by many great nieces and nephews – Emily, Ashley and Tyler McKay, David Springer, Penny McNitt, Cassie Davis and Mollie Dlabaj.

Lee graduated from Ennis High School and received his Business degree from Stephen F. Austin University. He served in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard from September 1960 until he was discharged in June 1967. Lee went to work for Aramark shortly after his discharge and was employed by them until his retirement in 1999.

A memorial will be held Saturday, August 29 at the Cowboy Church of Ennis at 10 a.m.

Walter Bobby Guthrie

Walter Bobby Guthrie departed this life August 27, 2015, at Ennis Regional Medical Center.

Bob was born November 26, 1936, in Italy, Texas, to Jesse and Leatha Guthrie. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of the Cowboy Church and retired from Ennis Transportation.

Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his daughter Nancy Burden and Sonny and his sister-in-law Janis Coleman plus a host of friends and his beloved dog Boogie. Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Elizabeth, his brother Jesse Guthrie and his parents.

Public viewing for friends will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2015, at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Ennis.

Victor George Zabojnik, Sr.

Victor George Zabojnik, Sr., 75, passed away in Ennis, Texas, on Saturday, August 29, 2015.

Victor was born in Ennis, Texas, on May 4, 1940, to Louis M and Bessie (Malota) Zabojnik. He grew up in Ennis and attended St. John Catholic School. On June 19, 1965, he married Patsy M. Taylor and they made their home in Ennis. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps.

He worked for Sears for over ten years in the shipping and receiving department and for Data Documents for over thirty years as the warehouse manager. He was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis, KJT, and American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, Czech music and talk radio.

He will be missed by all who knew him and his memory will be cherished most by his family including his wife of over fifty years, Patsy Zabojnik; step-son: Louis Kite; son, Victor Zabojnik, Jr. and wife JoAnn; daughters: Kim Brazier and husband James, Karen Waedekin and husband John, Kathy Ray and husband Randy, and Cindy Nash and fiance Adam Garcia; grandchildren: Keri, Brooke, Megan, Ashley, Ryan, Alissa, Holly, Lilly, Kyle and John Paul; great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Connor, Liam, Landon, Addison, Allison, Johnathan and Riley; step-grandchildren: Brandie and Chris; and one brother, Emil Zabojnik and wife Linda, along with several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and one son, John Paul Zabojnik.

Visitation was held on Monday, August 31, 2015, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mass of the Christian Burial took place on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. Pallbearers were Patrick Snodgrass, Josh Shockley, James Brazier, Randy Ray, John Waedekin, Adam Garcia and Trevor Harryman. Honorary Pallbearers were Kyle Nash and John Paul Zabojnik. Interment followed in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

Maye Annette Franklin

Maye Annette Franklin, age 66, passed away on August 27, 2015, at home after struggling with lupus for several years.

Annette, the daughter of Roy and Ada Mills, was born on November 19, 1948, in Bexar County, Texas. Her father was in the U. S. Air Force, and they lived in many locations including Seguin, TX; Wiesbaden, Germany; Alamogordo, NM; and Waco, TX. In 1965, her family moved to Ennis, TX. Annette graduated from Ennis High School in 1967.

In 1969, onSeptember 20, Annette married the love of her life Thomas Franklin at Walter Rider United Methodist Church in Ennis, Texas. They made a home in Ennis where they raised their two sons.

Annette enjoyed crochet, crafts, reading, spending time at the ocean, but most of all, spending time with her family and friends. She worked cleaning houses, as a hospice aide, a teacher’s aide at Ennis H.S. and a private care giver. Most recently she worked at the Golden Circle Activity Center.
She is preceded in death by her father Roy Lee Mills in 1998 and her mother Ada Mills in 2013.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Franklin; son Robert Franklin and wife Allison; son Randal Franklin and wife Cassie; brother Roy Lee Mills and wife Karen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service held at the Golden Circle Activity Center in Ennis, Texas, on September 20, 3-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Golden Circle Activity Center.

Robert N. Moore

Robert N. Moore died peacefully in Ennis, Texas, on Sunday, August 30, 2015, at the age of 81.

Robert is survived by sister, Louise Poulson; daughter, Gayle Scott; stepdaughter, Kay Howerton and spouse Marion Howerton; stepdaughter, Kathy Raynor; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Johnnie Mae Logsdon and two sons, Doug Moore and Rex Moore.

Robert was born on December 10, 1933, in Vici, Oklahoma, to Ella Littlejohn Smith and Leonard Worthy Moore. He married twice and moved between Texas and Oklahoma until he retired from Union Texas Petroleum and spent his retirement years enjoying friends and playing golf in the Enid, Oklahoma, area.

No funeral service is scheduled at this time. He will be cremated and his ashes spread at a future date.

Jean Hodges, 71, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 2, 2015.
Jean was born on November 22, 1943, to Joseph and Lula (Davis) Prasifka in Dallas, Texas. She grew up in Dallas, Texas, and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. On April 12, 1961, she married Donnie A. Hodges and they made their home in Dallas before moving to Ennis in 1968.

She worked for Storey Manufacturing as a seamstress and for Ennis ISD as a cook. She was a member of the Jesus Name Church. She loved to cook which she was wonderful at. She enjoyed spending time in God’s Word, going to church, listening and singing gospel music, writing, and loved being with her children.
She will be missed by all those who were blessed to know her and her memory will be cherished by her family including three sons: Donnie Hodges, John Hodges and Will Hodges; daughters: Marie Gattis and husband, Lee, Cheryl Love and husband, Jerry, Barbara Stanger and husband, Steve, Rachel Davis and husband Lonnie and Rebekah Lee and husband Sejin; nineteen grandchildren: fourteen great-grandchildren: sister, Betty Sue Copeland along with a host of other family, friends and church family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donnie Hodges on November 18, 2007, one brother, Donald Gene Prasifka and one sister, Rosetta Copeland.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at 1 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Olan Ray Raney officiating. Interment will follow in the Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
