Vanessa Agreda, age 12, of Milford, passed away on Wednesday November 20, 2013 at Cooks Children’s Hospital in Ft. Worth with her loving mother and family at her side. Vanessa was born on December 12, 2000 in Waxahachie to Lilly Agreda and Daniel Abad. She attended Milford ISD and was in the sixth grade. Vanessa was a beautiful little girl with a big heart who loved school, most of all math, science, lunch and recess. She also loved her teachers especially Ms. Harris and Ms. Chadwick and all her fellow classmates. But most of all she loved her family, Mommy, Poppy, brothers, sisters, and extended family. Vanessa will be cherished and loved by all who knew her. Along with her parents Lilly and Daniel, Vanessa is survived by her 3 sisters, Lidia, Angela, and Maria; brother Jose; grandparents Ruben and Maria Agreda; 5 aunts and 2 uncles as well as many many cousins. Elbert Wayne “Marty” Martin, 67, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Sunday, November 24, 2013. Marty was born in Mansfield, Texas on December 27, 1945 to Elbert LeRoy and Mary Francis (Ackerman) Martin. He graduated from Seagoville High School in 1963 and went on to attend Delmar Junior College. On August 16, 1969 he married Marcia L. Sanders and they made their home in Corpus Christie, Kleberg, and Memphis, Tennessee and settled in the Ennis area in 1990. He served his country proudly in the United State Navy for over twenty years. After his service to his country he worked for Jim Wilson and Associates for ten years as the corporate pilot and for eighteen years with ABF Freight Line as a truck driver. He was a member of the Fundamental Baptist Church of Palmer. He enjoyed restoring classic cars, playing golf and target shooting. He is survived by his wife, Marcia Martin of Ennis; son, Anthony Wayne Martin and his wife Rhonda of Kemp; daughter, Stephanie Martin of Ennis; three grandchildren: his father, Elbert LeRoy Martin and one sister, Mary Fort. Regina A. Goodwin, 46, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Saturday, November 23, 2013. Regina was born in Mabank, Texas on November 25, 1966 to William and Cathey (Pritchett) Brown. She grew up in the C edar Creek Area and graduated from Mabank High School in 1985. She married Charles L. Goodwin on September 21, 1988 and they made their home in Florida before moving to Cedar Creek Lake, they moved to Ennis in 2005 and Bristol in 2010. Regina worked for Wal Mart for over fifteen years as a cashier. She was a member of the Cowboy Church of Ennis and had been part of the Mabank National Honor Society. She enjoyed poetry and loved singing praises to her Lord and Savior. She loved her family. She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Goodwin of Ennis; son, Joshua W. Goodwin of Ennis; her parents: William and Alice Brown of Seven Points and Cathey Pritchett of Ennis; two brothers: Allen Brown and his wife Stacey of Crawford and Jason Hyde and his wife, Kasie of Lively; one sister, Stephanie Patak and her husband Michael of Ennis along with numerous step-brothers, step-sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews . Tommy Junior Duckworth was born on July 11, 1938, in Dallas, Texas. He was the 8th child of Richard Enos “Jake” and Lottie Frances Mae (Holley) Duckworth. He was the grandson of Damascus Daniel “Dee” and Martha Elmira “Mattie” (Truss) Duckworth, and of Claude and Myrtle Maybell “Mirtie” (Beach) Holley. Tommy attended school in Forney, Texas. At age 15, his first job off his parents’ farm was on the Smith Ranch. He also worked as a carpenter with his older brother and later as a painter for another brother for 6 years. Tommy enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1962. After his honorable discharge in 1968, he was a carpenter contractor for several Dallas based builders, and he and a partner were builders for a time while he lived in Mesquite. On October 19, 1978 he married Valerie Hamilton. Tommy and his family, after living a year in Richardson, moved to Ennis in 1973, where Tommy remained until his death on November 28, 2013. Tommy loved to hunt, fish, farm, and raise cattle, and was never happier than when he was outdoors. Tommy was preceeded in death by his parents, sisters: Iola Shipley, Lucille Steifer, and Jacqueline Tye, and brothers: J.D., Billy, Morris, and Don Duckworth. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Valeria Duckworth, children: Denis Duckworth and Dana McGuinness, granddaughters: Danielle Spurlock and Kayle Skinner, great grandchildren: Braydon and Emma Spurlock. Robbie Don Flynt
Robbie Don Flynt, 72, of Ennis (Bardwell) went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 in Ennis, Texas. Don was born on September 23, 1941 to Harold L. (H.L.) Flynt and Clemmie Ann (Clementine Annie) Gillespie Flynt in Avalon, Texas. He grew up in Ennis, attended Ennis schools, and graduated from Ennis High School in 1959. Don attended Texas A&M University and Louisiana Tech. On September 2, 1960, he married Geraldine Joan Culpepper. Don and Joan made their home in Ennis, Texas. Don drove a truck for many years, and owned several businesses, as well. He co-owned Weaver Spring and Brake for twenty six years and worked there for two years before becoming a co-owner. Because of his love for traveling and his truck driving jobs, he had the pleasure of saying he had driven to 49 of the 50 United States. For many years, Don and Joan were co-leaders of the JOY (Just Older Youth) group at Anthony Drive Baptist Church. They took their “old people” on several trips, including one to Yellowstone National Park. He was a member of Anthony Drive Baptist Church, and also attended the Ennis Cowboy Church. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at a young age while attended Tabernacle Baptist Church of Ennis. Don’s final journey took him to a glorious destination called Heaven, where he was greeted by those who have made the journey before him. We believe he’s enjoying a good cup of coffee and some of his Momma’s peach cobbler. He loved to spend time deer hunting with family and friends. His yard was always immaculate because he believed in mowing it as soon as it began growing to keep things beautiful around their home. Don is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Joan, daughter, Virginia LeAnn (Ginger) Richardson, and her husband Mark, twin sons, Robbie Wayne Flynt, and his wife Elizabeth, and Robert Layne Flynt, all of Ennis. He is survived by his six grandchildren who lovingly called him Paw Paw, Rebekah Von Richardson Bibb and her husband Steve, of Ennis, Jacob Paul Richardson and his wife Melissa, of Midlothian, Ethan Wayne Flynt, Colton Joshua Flynt, Carly Jo Flynt, and Sarah Elizabeth Flynt, all of Ennis, two great grandchildren, Michael Lukas Espinosa and Jaiden Mark Espinosa, two step-great grandchildren, Josh and Matthew Bibb. Don is also survived by his brother, Jon Paul Flynt, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, employees, and hunting buddies, and special friend Renee Potter. Don was preceded in death by his parents, H.L. and Clemmie Flynt, his brother, Edwin Flynt, and his beloved Aunt Jettie Gillespie Gilmore. Visitation was held at J.E. Annie J. Harris
Annie J. Harris, 90, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Monday, December 9, 2013. Annie was born in Baskin, Louisiana on October 28, 1923 to Clarence A. and Nora S. (Crider) Johnson. She grew up in Baskin, LA and graduated from Baskin High School in 1941. At age 19 she moved to Dallas to seek her fame and fortune. There she found her true treasure and the love of her life, Lynn Reagan Harris. They married on May 11, 1945. Her husband’s job with Frito-Lay took them on many adventures from Dallas, Amarillo, San Antonio, Irving, Iowa and Indiana before moving to Ennis in 1977. She was Lynn’s constant support and kept the home fires burning. Annie worked for North American Aviation for three years as a riveter during World War II, and after raising her family, for Erwin Distributing five years in packing. She was a member of the Bardwell Church of Christ. She and her husband were faithful servants of the Lord their entire lives. She enjoyed gardening, reading, caring for her grandchildren and anyone in need of kindness. She is survived by sons: Denney Harris and his wife, Peggy of Boerne, TX and Rorie Harris and his wife, Barbara of Telico; daughters: Carma Sullivan and her husband, Jim of Ennis and Nona Diediker and her husband, Lyle of West Richland, WA; twelve grandchildren: ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Royce Johnson of Baskin, LA and one sister, Joyce Taylor of Shreveport, LA. She is preceded in death by her parents, one son, William W. Harris, III, one grandson, Robbie Green, two brothers and five sisters. Mary Dee Davis Pennington Terry, of Terrell, passed away December 9, 2013. She was born in Shamrock, Tx to Charles and Ruthie (Terry) Davis, both of whom preceded her in death. Mary was also preceded in death by her first husband, J R Pennington and second husband, Bob Terry as well as her brother, Emmitt Eugene Davis. There was never a more gracious or generous lady than Mary Dee. She was always putting others needs and happiness before her which was the embodiment of her Christian personality displayed to others. Her hospitality to all she met was exceeded only by her love for her family. She was a devoted wife and mother and her children were her prized possession for the legacy of thoughtfulness that they will continue to carry on. Her home was always open to any and all and her gentle sweet spirit will be remembered by not only her beloved family but by everyone with whom she shared her life. Mary Dee was the epitome of the classy lady and she will be dearly missed. Mary Jo Croft, age 81, of Brownwood left her earthly body on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Care Nursing and Rehabilitation in Early, Texas. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4-6 P.M. Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel. Mary Jo was born on September 13, 1932 in Poyen, Arkansas to Herman and Tennie (Walker) Fitzhugh. She married Don Croft on September 29, 1952. She attended First United Methodist Church. She was an accountant for John Arthur Thomason and Gary Thomason, and Longhorn Auto Sales for many years. Ernest Wayne Camp of Ferris, Texas passed away, January 1, 2014, surrounded by his family at Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Ernest was born in Waxahachie, Texas to Ernest J. and Fredna P. Bateman Camp, an only child. Ernest and Cleo Davis were married on December 21, 1956 at Bailey Heights Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Ernest started and served as a Police Officer in 1958 in Corsicana, Ennis, Ellis Sheriff’s Department and retired as the Chief of Police of Palmer in 1998. He loved his family, western movies and football. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 57 years; Cleo Camp, daughter; Debbie Martinek, 2 sons; Tommy Camp, Tim and Becky Camp. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Derek Martinek, Ambre Camp, Donese Martinek Sammie Jo Alcaraz, Ashton Camp, Morgan Camp and Taylor Camp. 3 great grandchildren Aiden, Gunner and Annie. Pauline Garcia, 79, passed away in Waxahachie. Texas on Saturday, January 4, 2014. Pauline was born in Ennis, Texas on October 30, 1934 to Jose and France (Grando) Garcia. She grew up in Ennis and attended school in Ennis. She worked for six years for Forest Flower Shop for seven years at the Convent in Monterey Mexico and worked for over thirty years providing day care. She was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis and she loved to watch the Cowboys. She is survived by a daughter, Mireya Estrada; one granddaughter, Hayley Estrada; one brother, Henry Garcia; two sisters: Linda G. Partida and Lupe Garcia. N.B. (Buck) Jordan Jr.
N.B. (Buck) Jordan of Waxahachie passed away peacefully on January 6, 2014, Buck was a lifelong resident of Waxahachie, born July 6, 1932. He was the fourth of six children born to N.B.(Nick) and Lucy Jordan. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Stanley (Corky )Jordan, Charles Jordan and Rodgers Jordan and two sisters, Mariam Seegers and Bettye Morris. Buck had several careers that spanned his life in Waxahachie, he retired from AT&T after 31 years in 1984, one week later he took over the helm of The Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce as CEO until his retirement in 2001. It was this second career where Buck really poured his heart into. He played a key role in bringing many businesses and industries to the Waxahachie area, including the Super Collider Project before it was closed down. He was a firm believer in Waxahachie and that he was available for all businesses no matter how large or small. He continued to serve Waxahachie after his retirement from the Chamber of Commerce by serving on the City Council and later Mayor of Waxahachie. Buck was an ambassador of and for Waxahachie and its citizens. He worked tirelessly on many projects and committees even after he was diagnosed with Cancer. He was never too busy to listen or help anyone in Waxahachie. Buck’s other passion was sports, he was an avid golfe r up until a few years before his death. He and his life long friend Jerry Roberts manned the scoreboard and clock at Old Wilemon Field and Lumpkins Stadium for over 40 years. He served as President of the Waxahachie Pony League, along with being a coach for his son’s team. He did PA work for many years at Richards Park. Buck is survived by his wife Jane Jordan of Waxahachie, Nick Jordan and his wife Renee’ of Athens, Jeff Jordan and his wife Kari of Castroville, TX, six grandchildren, Nicole Dunn of Waxahachie, Jason Jordan of Waxahachie, Lindsey and Rocky Whitely of Conroe, Jessica Johnston of Dallas, Jared Jordan of Athens, and Lexi Jordan of Conroe, also five Great Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 6pm-8pm at The Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie and a Memorial Service will be held Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 2pm at The Civic Center in Waxahachie. John W. Jacob
John W. Jacob, 73, passed away in Dallas, Texas on Monday, January 6, 2014. John was born in San Antonio, Texas on June 30, 1940 to John William and Julia Frances (Poe) Jacob. He grew up in South Texas, graduating from Danbury High School. Later in life he went on to attend CFNI, graduating with a degree in Practical Theology. On December 1, 1961 he married Wanda Faye Miller and they made their home in Terrell, then Corsicana, finally settling in Ennis in 1969. They had been married for forty-nine years before her death in 2011. On May 25, 2013 he married Dianna Lavon Daniel and they made their home in Mabank. He served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1959 until 1966, during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked for AT&T for thirty-three years as a system technician retiring in 1995. He then served as the associate pastor of Faith Assembly of God Church in Ennis. He was a member of the Golden Circle, City Hall Prayer Meetings in Ennis and was a United Way Board Member. He enjoyed fishing and loved baseball, especially the Texas Rangers. He is survived by his wife, Dianna Jacob; sons: Chris Jacob and Kelly Jacob and wife, Tammie: step-sons: Preston E. Claiborne and wife, Shawn and James M. Claiborne and wife, Nicole; three grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; three brothers: Thomas Jacob, William Jacob and Michael Jacob along with two sisters: Mary Frances Rollins and Kathy Christiansen. He is preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Wanda Jacob. Visitation will be on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Darrel Nelson officiating. Salvador Martinez
Salvador Moreno Martinez, age 90, passed away in Waxahachie on January 9, 2014. He was born in Italy on February 6, 1923 to Faustino and Alberta (Moreno) Martinez. He was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church in Italy; he served in the United States Army as a Rifleman from 1943 to 1945. He is survived by a sister, Victoria Santos of Avalon; nieces and nephews, Robert Martinez, Jr., Albert Martinez, Mary Aguirre, Julia Martinez, Louis Santos, Adam Santos, and Yolanda Flores; great nieces and nephews, Jude Martinez, Jessie Aguirre, Zeke Martinez, Ashley Martinez, Miranda Martinez, Angelica Lopez, Rebecca Aguirre, Veronica Aguirre, Christopher Santos, Stevan Santos, Anthony Santos, Lizette Santos, Ivan Santos, Allysa Santos, Louis Santos, Jr., and Priscilla Santos; great great nieces and nephews, Penny lane, Adaley Bernal and Jordani Arias. Salvador is preceded in death by his parents, Faustino and Alberta Martinez; brothers and sisters, Jessie Martinez, Joe Martinez, Cruz Martinez, and Robert Martinez. Mildred Dlabaj Wickliffe
Mildred Ann Dlabaj Wickliffe, 80, passed away peacefully at home on January 10, 2014. Mildred was a lifelong resident of Ennis, having been born on January 31, 1933, the 11th of 12 children to Frank and Mary Dlabaj. Mildred married Johnny I. Wickliffe on September 3, 1955. She worked for a time at Marylin Belts and Bags in Ferris but decided to dedicate her life to making a wonderful home for her family. Mildred was a faithful member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and was a wonderful example to everyone around her. She loved doing various types of crafts and decorating her home, and was affectionately known as “Granny” to her family. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Johnny I. Wickliffe, her parents, her siblings Frank Jr., John, Joe, Charlie, Stanley, Aloisie, and Emily Dlabaj, Annie Kovar, Mary Sladecek, and an infant daughter Mary Ann Wickliffe. Mildred is survived by three children: Patti and Gary Strunc, Johnny L. and Tish Wickliffe, and Gary and Brenda Wickliffe, all of Ennis; four grandchildren: Jessica and Santos Diaz, Randy Strunc, Chris Wickliffe, and Melanie Wickliffe; three great-grandchildren: Matthew, Ryan, and Jillian Diaz; three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; siblings Albin and Mildred Dlabaj, and Elsie and George Rackley; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Ennis. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on January 14, 2014 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Fr. John Dick as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
