Frank Richard Gerich age 66, of Ennis Texas passed away on Thursday September 19, 2013 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Frank was born on July 5, 1947 in Ennis Texas to the late Frank Anton and Mary (Macalik) Gerich. Frank proudly served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War. Frank is survived by his children; Bonnie Nichols, Julie Spencer, Michelle Brannan, and Antone Gerich; he is grandfather of 8; brother of Ernest Gerich, Annie (George) Wartsbaugh , and Larry (Debbie) Gerich. Along with his parents, Frank is preceded in death by his sister Mary Frances Gerich. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 23, 2013 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm with Rosary at 7:00pm., Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel in Ennis. Graveside services will be held at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery on Tuesday September 24, 2013 at 12:30pm with Fr. Ernie Torrez officiating. 2253078 J.Q. (Jake) Williams, 93, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Saturday, September 21, 2013. J.Q. was born in Palmer, Texas on January 9, 1920 to Davis Stanford and Josephine Isabel (Shankle) Williams. He grew up in Dalton and Crisp. He married Eula E. Tillison on March 28, 1947 and they made their home in Garrett then to Grand Prairie, then to Miami, Florida and back to Garrett in 1987. He served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1942 until 1945 serving in the European Theater during World War II. He worked for Florida Portland Cement Company for thirty-four years working in repairs and as a store room clerk. He was a member of Anthony Drive Baptist Church and the IOOF Lodge. He loved to work on old cars and enjoyed yard work. He is survived by one son, James Q. (Jim) Williams and his wife, Ana; two grandchildren: Jay Williams and Anita Williams, one brother, Chester Williams; and one brother-in-law, Benny Tillison He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eula Williams, siblings, Macel (Babe) Williams and Bobbye Christian. He lived his final years in the Ennis Care Center. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of his life will take place on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Jerry Fulton officiating. Carolyn Nekuza Jurik

2246001Carolyn Nekuza Jurik, 99, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Friday, September 20, 2013. Carolyn was born in Bardwell, Texas on May 2, 1914 to Charles (Charlie) S. and Frances (Haskovec) Nekuza. She grew up in Bardwell and graduated from Bardwell High School in 1930 where she was a star basketball player. She was offered a basketball scholarship to Trinity University. On April 16, 1938 she married Willie C. Jurik and they made their home in Bardwell until 1981 when she moved to Ennis after the death of her husband. She worked on the family farm until 1981, for Ellen’s Dress Shop, H & H Gifts and Hardware and the Wright Shop. She was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, served as President of the PTA at the Bardwell School. She was president of the Mother’s Club for St. John School and was a member of the KJZT #16. She loved to Polka and was a member of the Polka Club and never missed a Polka Festival. She was big fan of the Mollie B show. She also loved playing dominos with her friends every Friday night. She is survived by daughters: Joyce Plasek and her husband, Ed Plasek of Ennis and Nancy Jurik and her husband, Gray Cavender of Tempe, Arizona; two grandchildren: David Plasek and Kelly Falkenbach and three great-grandchildren: Kara Estrada, Scott Falkenbach and Kaden Plasek. She is preceded in death by her husband Willie C. Jurik on February 23, 1981, one brother, E.R. (Nick) Nekuza and one sister, Florence Vitovsky. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father John Dick as celebrant. She grew up in Telico and attended school in Telico and St. John Catholic Schools. She worked as a home care giver for her parents. She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, KJZT #16 and RVOS. She enjoyed nature and working with the flowers in her garden. She loved and cared for many cats. She is survived by one brother, Robert Zabojnik and his wife, Mary of Ennis; three sisters: Louise Slovak of Ennis, Francis Chudej and her husband, Joe of Dallas and Della Kubacek of Ennis along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, John P and Alouise Zabojnik, brothers, Emil Zabojnik, Joe Zabojnik, Victor Zabojnik, Milton Zabojnik, Edwin Zabojnik and John Zabojnik and sisters, Mary Schullenberg and Sophie Janicek. 2321902Clarence Eaghart Whitfill, Sr., 93, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Clarence was born in Alma, Texas to Anthony Eaghart and Mary C. (Kelly) Whitfill on November 13, 1919. He grew up in Alma, attended Alma School and graduated from Ennis High School in 1937. On October 2, 1948 he married Agnes I. Shaw and they lived in Illinois, Puerto Rico, Maine and California before moving to Ennis in 1963. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force serving during WWII in the Army Air Corp. In December of 1963 he retired from the military after serving over twenty years of service as a Sr. Master Sergeant. He worked for LTV for eight years after retiring from the military and worked on the farm and ranched. He was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, VFW, and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed playing golf and gardening. He is survived by one son, Clarence E. “Buddy” Whitfill, Jr.; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Taylor; one granddaughter, Amber Clements; one great-granddaughter Riley Medford; two brothers: Fred Whitfill and Paul Whitfill and four sisters: Gertrude Langley, Theresa Odlozil, Lucille Prestidge and Geraldine Gurley. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Agnes Whitfill on April 2, 2007, one daughter Mary Patricia Clements in 2011, two brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. 2323336Calvin B. Reeves, 87, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Thursday, November 14, 2013. Calvin was born in Tyler, Texas on August 11, 1926 to Harry S. and Grace (Faglie) Reeves. He grew up in Waco and graduated from Waco High School in 1944. He attended Baylor University, where he received a Bachelor’s degree, and went on to receive a Baylor degree of Law. On August 24, 1951 he married Jeannine Bell they made their home originally in Waco, then to Fort Worth, Midland, Dallas and then to Palmer in 1960 . He served his country proudly in the United State Marine Corp during WWII. He served as General Council for the Baptist Foundation of Texas for over Thirty years. He was a Deacon for Tabernacle Baptist Church, was a member of the Ennis Lions Club, was on the Board of Directors for the Ennis Golden Circle and served on the Ellis County Appraisal Board. He enjoyed working in his pecan orchard, reading, amateur geologist and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his sons: Robin Reeves of Palmer and his wife, Teresa and Rustin Reeves and his wife, Sandra of Allen; four grandchildren: Rhett Reeves, Brock Reeves, Kristin Santamaria and Kyle Reeves; one brother, Irvin Reeves of Houston, one sister, Billie Purvis of Waco along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeannine Reeves on December 9, 2004 and two sisters, Edna Reeves and Leta Federwisch. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Tabernacle Baptist Church of Ennis with Rev. Todd Gray officiating under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. He grew up in Ennis and graduated from St. John Catholic High School in 1969. On July 27, 1974 he married Jeanette Bohanon and they made their home in Ennis. He was the owner and operator of Lionbacker’s for over thirty years. He was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and KJT. He enjoyed hunting and gardening. Tommy was a one of a kind person, he was generous and genuine. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Slama; son, Tommy Lee Slama and his wife, Haley of Ennis; daughter, Shelley Guerrero and her husband, Jason of Ennis; two grandchildren: Keira and Hannah; two sisters: Elsie Marak and her husband, Raymond of Ennis and Georgia LaScala of Ennis along with numerous nieces and nephews. Nell Johnson, 87, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Nell was born on August 12, 1926 to Lonnie D. and Eunice (Vassar) Frazier in Bonham, Texas. She grew up in Bonham and attended Bonham High School. On June 18, 1946 she married Joseph A. Johnson and they made their home in Bonham, and then moved to Irving in 1950, to Waxahachie in 1955, to Mesquite in 1969 and after the death of Joseph she moved to Ennis in 1998. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing camping and bowling. She is survived by one son, Joe David Johnson and his wife, Debbie of Mesquite; one daughter, Carolyn Macon and her husband, Mike of Ennis; four grandchildren: Jeff Macon, Justin Macon, Matt Johnson and Lacy Palmer and six great-grandchildren: Dylan Macon, Cole Macon, Hailey, Macon, Drake Macon, Van Palmer and Reid Palmer. She is preceded in death by her parent, her husband Joe A. Johnson on January 22, 1997 and two brothers, Bobby Frazier and Billy Frazier. He remained loyal to the Baptist church of his childhood. He enjoyed fishing especially saltwater fishing. He is survived by his wife, Earline Lambert of Wortham, TX; one son, Johnny Lambert, Jr. of Dallas, TX; three daughters: Melody Tharp of Andersonville, TN, Tara Duncan of Tazewell, TN and Angelica Lambert of Wortham, TX: four grandchildren: Amelia, Owen, Laura and Travis, Jr.; his mother, Edith Lambert of Tazewell, TN: three brothers; Jack Lambert, Lewis Lambert and James Lambert and five sisters: Vivian Lister, Delores Cupp Carolyn Greene, Nancy Lambert and Glenda Shockley. original 1Mrs. Susie Andrews, age 77, of Dallas passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Texas Specialty Hospital in Dallas. She was born May 8, 1936 in Ellis County Texas to Raymond Lester Mullican and Myrtie Amanda McCluney Mullican. She spent her life serving and caring for others. After graduating from Ennis High School she worked at Ennis Business Forms for years and later as a bookkeeper in the trucking industry. She then helped her husband in his accounting business. Susie was an avid reader, and especially loved reading about Egypt and Queen Elizabeth I. She was known to have read three books in a day. She also was an avid Bible scholar and could beat pretty much anyone at Bible Trivia. She met the love of her life, George David Andrews when she was only 16 while picking pecans. She and George didn’t marry until 20 years later due to health issues and her taking care of her parents in their older years.   She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Billie Isom. Mrs. Andrews is survived by her husband of 39 years, George David Andrews of Dallas and her son, David Anthony Andrews and his wife, Jennie Lynn and by her granddaughter, Emily Claire Andrews of Austin. Susie was also survived by her nieces, Lisa and Amy, and nephews, Kenneth Ray and Boyd Lynn of the Isom family. Visitation with the family will be from 5 – 7 PM on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Randal Whitt officiating.  The burial of her cremains will take place at a later date with a private family service. St Clair, Glenn CROPPED074Glenn St. Clair was born in 1928 to Loyes & Katherine St. Clair. The family moved to Dallas, TX from Ennis, TX, where he graduated from Forest Avenue High School. Always avid in sports, Glenn played football and baseball throughout high school. He retired from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Dept. in 1986 after serving faithfully for 33 years. After retiring Glenn worked as a dispatcher for the Rowlett Police Dept. He was a member of New Liberty Church in Garland, TX. Glenn is survived by his daughters: Carolyn St. Clair of Mesquite, TX, and Glenda McCroskey & husband Tom of Ft. Worth, TX; sons: Randy St. Clair and Rick St. Clair, both of Mesquite, TX; sister: Margie Bouton & husband Harry of Plano, TX; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and goddaughter: Haley Cleveland. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife: Patti St. Clair on December 29, 2011. Marshall, Jr. of Ennis; daughters: Sue Mooney and her husband, Brady of Ennis and Ginger Smith and her husband, Terry also of Ennis; four grandchildren: five great-grandchildren and one sister, Frances Bowker of Temple. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Inmon. He enjoyed playing baseball, basketball and loved playing outdoors with his cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Margaret Herrera. Visitation will be on Friday, November 22, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 3 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Nathan Grant and Rev. Marshall Andrews officiating.
