Rev. G.G. Melton, Sr., 91, went home to meet his Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, from Dallas,
Texas.
G.G. was born in Daylight, Tennessee, on September 14, 1924, to Alex and Ann (Deabury) Melton. He grew up in
Woodbury, Tennessee. On October 23, 1948, he married Martha Elizabeth Rogers. He served his country proudly in
the United States Army.
He served the Lord as a Minister of the Gospel from 1960 until 2010 and was the pastor of the Creechville Road
Baptist Church for forty-seven years. He also owned Melton Home Exterminating for 26 years. He loved the Lord and
served him well.
He is survived by sons: Roger Melton and wife, Debbie and Gaines Garland Melton; daughter, Darlene Bartel; four
grandchildren: Dana Dorton, Gregory Melton, Joshua Melton and Elizabeth Nichole Melton; three great-grandchildren;
and one sister, Treever Blair.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha E. Melton; grandson, Billy Ray Melton; two brothers; and
two sisters.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.
A Celebration of his life will take place on Friday, April 1, 2016, at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of
Ennis with Rev. Jim Fry officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in DFW National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to the Creechville Road Baptist Church.
