Johnny Maliska, Jr., age 84, passed away on January 30, 2016. He was born on January 7, 1932, in Ennis, to John and Frances (Vrana)
Maliska. He married the love of his life, Emeleen Novy, on April 27, 1957. Johnny retired from Larkin Manufacturing Plant in Waxahachie after
40 years; was a part-time farmer all his life; member of KJT, and VFW Post 203; a life-time member of Saint John Nepomucene Catholic
Church. He was an Army Corporal Lieutenant in the Korean War; transported to Korea aboard the USS General A. E. Anderson, (T-AP-111);
Armed Forces of USA Co 56th Amphibious Tank & Tractor Battalion from 1952 to October 1954; Armed Reserve 1954 to October 31, 1960
when he was Honorably discharged for completion of 8 years of service. Johnny was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He
loved to make Metal Art; always worked a garden, took care of livestock and kept his old tractors running.
He is survived by his children, Deborah Haisler and husband Nolan, Sr., David Maliska and wife Jane, Donna Mecom and husband Chris, John
Maliska and wife Pamela, and Jennifer Bratcher and husband Michael; grandchildren, Nolan, Jr .and wife Sandra, Julie, Galyn, Matthew and
wife Betty, Scott and wife Alyssa, Taylor, Alex, Chase, Dawson, Eason, Caleb, Madison, Gracie, Josh and Hannah; great grandchildren, Nolan,
III, Isaac, Naomi, Elliot, Kylan and Bradyn; sisters, Helen Macalik and husband Joe Ben and Frances Maliska.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Maliska and his wife Emeleen Maliska.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin
Funeral Home at Ennis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at Saint John Nepomucene Catholic Church with
Father John Dick as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Ennis; serving as pallbearers will be Nolan Haisler, Jr.,
Matthew Haisler, Scott Maliska, Alex Mecom, Chase Maliska and Dawson Maliska. Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb Aldama, Eason
Maliska, and Josh Bratcher.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made for Johnny’s granddaughter Gracie who is battling brain tumors; or designate a donation to
Alixx Santos who is hospitalized due to a recent roll-over accident and is a close friend of Johnny’s grandson Dawson; or a donation
can be made to the St. Joseph Cemetery Irrevocable Trust. Donations for Gracie or if designating to Alixx, can be payable to: ‘David
Maliska for Team Gracie’ and mailed to Ennis State Bank, P.O. Box 370, Ennis, TX 75120.
