Donal Ray Woods, 85, passed away in Rockport, Texas, on Saturday, January 23, 2016.
He was born September 7, 1930, in Corning, Arkansas, to Bob and Pollyanna Taylor Woods. After the death of his mother, he
and his sister Mid were raised by their father and loving grandmother Minnie Woods.
He was a very good baseball player and was offered a contract with a St. Louis Cardinals farm team but the US Army came
calling and he left to serve his country.
On October 13, 1953, he married Edna Earl Corry in McKinney, Texas. They lived in Collin County for many years where he
worked as a contractor before moving to Ennis in 1976. In 1986 they moved to Rockport, Texas.
He is survived by sons Kenny Woods of Rockport, Dennis Woods (Kathy) of Ennis, and Ronald Woods (Tracey) of Victoria, Texas;
daughter Lisa Porter (Joey) of Biloxi, Mississippi: five grandchildren: Holly and Billy Woods, Amanda and Christopher Woods (Dawn),
and Ashley Harrell (Royce); two great-grandchildren: Chip Harrell and Ava Woods; sister and brother-in-law Betty and Dan Crump of
Ennis, Texas; nephews Scott and Kevin Phillips of Arkansas, Matt and Mark LaFollett of Ennis, Randy Kindle of Lindale, Texas; and
devoted companion Scooter.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Edna Woods; his parents Bob and Polly Woods; parents-in-law Evelyn and
Alton Corry; sister Mildred Phillips; brothers-in-law Rex Phillips and Bob Stone.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the Charlie Marshall Funeral Home of Rockport.
Funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2016, at 10 a.m., in Fulton Community Church, Fulton, Texas. Interment
will follow on Monday, February 1, 2016, at 10 a.m. in the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, Grand Prairie, Texas.
