Iva Dee (Wilhoite) Collins passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015, in Ennis, Texas.
Iva Dee was born December 15, 1921, in Ennis to Orborn D. and Ethel (Lewis) Wilhoite. She was reared in Ennis, attending Ennis Schools. On July 4, 1941, she was married to George H. Collins and they made their home in Ennis.
Besides being a wife and mother, Iva worked for Fallen Electric (Ennis Automotive) for a total of thirty years. She retired as a Supervisor. Iva Dee was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Ennis and she enjoyed gardening and crafts. Many enjoyable hours were spent at Ethel and Orbon’s (known as Mawmaw and Paw to Iva Dee’s children) house! Being talented with crafts, Iva always decorated the house for every holiday season!
Iva Dee is survived by sons: Dean Collins, and his wife, Linda, and Harvey Collins, and his wife, Barbara; daughter, Norma, and her husband, Glenn Coleman; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Collins; brothers: Ralph, Raymond, Loyd, James, Bobby and Joe Roy; sisters: Irene and Laura Belle.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 6, 2015, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. in Ennis, Texas.
A celebration of Iva’s life will be held Monday, December 7, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the Myrtle Cemetery with Rev. Michael McCracken officiating under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
