Robert L. “Bob” Mitchell, 81, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 in Denton, Texas.
Bob was born in Lufkin, Texas on July 28, 1933 to Sherman and Zula (Chandler) Mitchell. He grew up in Lufkin and graduated from Lufkin High School. After attending Stephen F. Austin State University, he joined the U.S. Army and served overseas in Japan. Returning to the States, he completed a Business Degree in Marketing from North Texas State University. On September 13, 1958 he married the love of his life Eileen Parma and together they celebrated 50 years of marriage
His business career included employment with Graybar, Inc., Allstate Insurance, Xerox Corporation, Arthur, Young and Company, and finally Ennis Business Forms where he began as the General Manager of Sales and Marketing 1969. After a promotion to Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing in 1983, he served as President and CEO until he retired in 1989. After retirement, he continued his dedication and loyalty to EBF by actively serving as a member of the Board of Directors. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing, but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren
He is survived by sons: Gary Mitchell and wife, Renee of Ennis and Greg Mitchell of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Pam Wilson of Denton; grandchildren: Ashlee Wilson Herr, Drew Mitchell, Joleigh Mitchell and Tony Falcinelli and one sister, Oleta Stewart of Lufkin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, he wife, Eileen Mitchell, one granddaughter, Krista Wilson, one brother, James and three sisters, Lucille, Retha and Madelyn.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 2 p.m. in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father Henry Drozd as celebrant. Interment will follow in St Joseph Cemetery in Ennis under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
