Thelma G. Patti (Gayla), 88, of Ennis, Texas died on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at the Autumn Leaves Memory Care Facility in The Woodlands, Texas. She was born May 23, 1925, in Powell County, Kentucky, the daughter of Vernon Reed and Nora Mae Reed.
On May 11, 1954 she was united in marriage to Nicholas Francis Patti in New York City. In 1955, they moved to Casablanca, Morocco where Nicholas was employed by the Atlas Construction Company at the Nouasseur US Air Force Base. Gayla had a passion for life and an adventurous spirit and enjoyed living in many interesting countries and making new friends. She lived in Morocco, Spain, The Philippines, Thailand, Iran, Puerto Rico and many places within the United States. She was loved by those that knew her, known for her quick wit, warm smile, and kind heart. In her spare time she enjoyed painting, reading, and spending time with her friends, family, and children.
She is survived by her husband Nicholas Francis Patti of Ennis Texas; three children, Steven Patti of The Woodlands, Texas, Lisa Pleski of Maui, Hawaii, and Gina Wear of Rice, Texas; six grandchildren, Michael Kittle, Amanda Kittle, Jason Wear, Kevin Wear, Rebekah Patti and Nicholas Patti; her brothers Kenneth Reed of Franklin, Indiana, Elvin Reed of Evansville, Indiana, and Roger Reed of Indianapolis, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Reed, her mother Nora Mae Reed and her brothers, Chester Reed and Jesse Reed.
A Memorial Service in celebration of her life will be held Saturday, July 19 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chatfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Diggs, presiding. The church is located at 4937 FM 1603, Chatfield, Texas 75105. The family will be there until 12:00 p.m. to greet family and friends.
