Edith K. Wooten

2442320Edith K. Wooten, 93, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Sunday, March 2, 2014. Edith was born in Cisco, Texas on October 5, 1920 to Jessie and Hallie (Yeatts) Cook. She grew up in Josephine, Texas and graduated from Southmayd School in 1938. On January 8, 1939 she married Marvin O “Bud” Wooten and they made their home in Sherman before moving to Ennis in 1942. She worked for Donavan-Galvantie for thirteen years as a floor foreman for Sabrook Fabrics in sales and for Bob Stone Realtor for three years as an agent. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church and the Rebecca Lodge of Ennis. She enjoyed cooking and sewing. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Wilhoite of Ennis; two grandchildren: Tony Wilhoite and Teresa McCarthy; five great-grandchildren: Hillary Laza, Drew Wilhoite, Jeremy Novotny, Trevor Wilhoite and Tori Wilhoite; two great-great-grandchildren: Hannah Laza and Brady Laza and one brother, Don Cook of Wichita Falls. She is preceded in death by her husband, M.O. Wooten on November 13, 2002, son-in-law James Wilhoite and two brothers: R.L. Cook and Simon Cook. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J. E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Mike Sellers and her brother, Don Cook officiating.
