John W. Jacob, 73, passed away in Dallas, Texas on Monday, January 6, 2014. John was born in San Antonio, Texas on June 30, 1940 to John William and Julia Frances (Poe) Jacob. He grew up in South Texas, graduating from Danbury High School. Later in life he went on to attend CFNI, graduating with a degree in Practical Theology. On December 1, 1961 he married Wanda Faye Miller and they made their home in Terrell, then Corsicana, finally settling in Ennis in 1969. They had been married for forty-nine years before her death in 2011. On May 25, 2013 he married Dianna Lavon Daniel and they made their home in Mabank. He served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1959 until 1966, during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked for AT&T for thirty-three years as a system technician retiring in 1995. He then served as the associate pastor of Faith Assembly of God Church in Ennis. He was a member of the Golden Circle, City Hall Prayer Meetings in Ennis and was a United Way Board Member. He enjoyed fishing and loved baseball, especially the Texas Rangers. He is survived by his wife, Dianna Jacob; sons: Chris Jacob and Kelly Jacob and wife, Tammie: step-sons: Preston E. Claiborne and wife, Shawn and James M. Claiborne and wife, Nicole; three grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; three brothers: Thomas Jacob, William Jacob and Michael Jacob along with two sisters: Mary Frances Rollins and Kathy Christiansen. He is preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Wanda Jacob. Visitation will be on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Darrel Nelson officiating.
