Bob Irish, 63, of Ennis, passed away on April 3, 2013 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas after fighting a couagous battle with colon cancer. Bob was born on May 1, 1949 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Tom and Blanche Irish and grew up in Escanaba, Michigan. He graduated from Escanaba High School in 1967 and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Michigan University in 1972. Bob and his childhood sweetheart, Dawn Wellman, were married in Escanaba on August 21, 1971. Bob began his business career in the sales position at Certainteed Corporation in 1972. He joined Edward Jones as a Financial Advisor in 1984 and later became a Limited Partner. He served his community with pride and joy as a Elder and Deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Ennis, as a member of the Ennis Chamber of Commerce, where he also served on the Board of Directors, and a current member and Past President of the Ennis Noon Lion’s Club where he was affectionately known as “Captain Pancake”. Bob’s greatest joy in life was his loving family, his Edward Jones family including his wonderful clients, and his many friends. He loved to golf, swim, travel, listen to classic rock, fish with his special fishing buddies, and gather with his IHOP breakfast group. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Dawn of Ennis, son Mark Irish and wife Dee of Euless, son Jeff Irish and wife Tess of Ennis, his precious grandchildren Vaughn and Camden Irish of Euless and Celeste and Jude Irish of Ennis, brother Dale Irish and wife Nancy of Georgetown, mother-in-law, Muriel Wellman, brother-in-law Bruce Wellman, sister-in-law Sherrie Vogelmann, nephews Kevin Irish, Darren Irish, Brandon Swanson, nieces Kaylene Wellman, Kathy Wellman, Olivia Vogelmann, Sophie Vogelmann, and best friends David and Ann Smith, Tom and Linda Koch. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Blanche Irish and his father-in-law Ormal Wellman. At Bob’s request, his life will be celebrated at a private family memorial. Memorials or donations in Bob’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society or First Presbyterian Church in Ennis.
