Lott M. Penrod

2039798Lott M. Penrod, 91, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Friday, March 29, 2013. L.M. was born Nov. 27, 1921, in Crisp, Texas to Lott Melven and Ora Virginia (Evans) Penrod. He attended school in Bristol and Palmer Texas, graduating from Palmer High School in 1940 after which he worked on the family farm. He attended government radio school in San Antonio, Texas. and joined the 30th Signal Corp. He served in the European War Theater where he was part of the Battle of the Bulge and the Normandy invasion. Upon his discharge, L.M. went to work for Western Electric Inc., a division of AT&T, in 1944, working until retirement in 1982. He married Brownie LaVerne Morel of Beaumont, Texas, June 11, 1949, and moved to Dallas where they had two sons. L.M. was active at Casa View Baptist Church in Dallas and served as a junior boys Sunday school teacher. After moving from Dallas to Ennis in 1966, L.M. was active in church and little league baseball, coaching for a number of years He is survived by his son, Bobby Gilbert Penrod and wife Darlene, son Richard Louis Penrod, grandchildren Todd Gilbert, Julie Marie Thompson and Daniel Louis Penrod, all of Ennis, and four great-grandsons; two sisters: Mildred Penrod Taylor and Mittie Penrod Gulledge, both of Bristol. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Brownie in 2008, brothers John Melvin and William Sydney Pernrod, Sister Virgie Iriene Penrod and daughter-in-law Mary M. Penrod. Visitation was held on Monday, April 1, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of his life took place on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Richard Moody officiating. Pallbearers will be Daniel Penrod, Todd Penrod, Bill Sims, Steve Taylor and Randall Willis. Interment followed in Bristol Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
