Mildred Maxine Armstrong

Mildred Maxine Armstrong, 87, was welcomed to her Heavenly Home on Friday, November 10, 2017 by her Lord and Savior and many loved ones.

Mildred was born in the Oak Grove Community on October 6, 1930 to Rev. Hughey H and Jewel (Oliver) McCollum the fourth of six daughters. Mildred grew up in the Bardwell-Byrd communities. She graduated from Ennis High School. On May 28, 1948 she married the love of her life Samuel W. “Sam” Armstrong and they made their home in Byrd. After a few years they moved to Pasadena, Texas in 1952, then to Terrell in 1993 and back to Pasadena in 2012.

She worked for many years at Carter’s County Gun Shop. She was a member of the Golden Acres Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and a faithful child of God.

She is survived by her son, Lanny Armstrong and wife, Debbie; daughter, Susan TenNapel and husband, Scott; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Katherine Brock along with a host of family and friends who loved her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband who was the love of her life for over sixty-eight years, Sam Armstrong on March 31, 2017; sisters, Wyvonne Quillan , Peggy Anthony, Margaret Vanbibber and Joy Jones.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. prior to the service on Friday, November 17, 2017.

A Celebration of her life will take place on Friday, November 17, 2017 in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Interment will follow in Grady Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

As an expression of sympathy, contributions may be made to Heart to Hospice in memory of Mildred Armstrong.
