Mary Alice Doyle, 95, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, from Ennis, Texas.
Mary was born in Sherman, Texas, on January 28, 1921, to L.W. and Hassie (Pressley) Greenwood. She grew up in Sherman and graduated from Sherman High School. Upon graduation, she married Erwin M. Doyle September 28, 1939, in Durant, Oklahoma. They lived in Sherman until 1943 when they moved to Ennis with Erwin’s job with the railroad.
She worked for Ennis Daily News/United Publishing Company as a bookkeeper for over twenty-three years retiring in 1980. The people Mary worked and went to church with were like family to her. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Ennis where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the MAGS group. She loved to watch the Ennis Lions, the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. She enjoyed spending time traveling and reading.
She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her and her memory will be cherished most by her family including her son, Larry Doyle and wife, Jackie; daughter, Gayle McDonald; four grandchildren: John Doyle, Jessica Tighe, Jaylon Doyle and Jacqueline Doyle and great-grandchildren: Derek Doyle, Alexis Doyle, Joshua Doyle, Zachary Doyle and Cadence Doyle.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Erwin M. Doyle in 1987, son Mike Doyle in 1999 and one sister, Hazel.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.
A Celebration of her life will take place on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Interment will be held in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
The family would like to thank the IOOF Nursing Home and the Family First Hospice of Ennis for the loving care they provided Mary in her final days.
