Monte L.Cheek, age 54, passed away with his family by his side on Monday, May 23, 2016, at his home in Rice.
He was born in Ennis on November 3, 1961, to Kermit Archibald and Bobbie Nell (Shelton) Cheek. He married Emilia Natalie Haberman on May 8, 1982, in Ennis. Monte worked for OK Garage in Ennis for 20 years and then opened his own shop in Rice, Monte’s Automotive. Monte liked to fish, duck hunt and coach his son’s teams. He loved spending time with his grandkids and family.
He is survived by his loving wife Emilia Cheek of Rice; one son, Monte L Cheek, Jr. and wife Jessica; two grandsons, Avery and Keegan Cheek; three brothers, Jack Cheek and wife Diane, Larry Cheek and wife Dorothy, and Dale Cheek; two sisters, Sharon Haden and husband Doug, and Misty Benet; aunt, Larue Jenkins; father-in law, Dan Haberman and wife Kay, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Monte is preceded in death by his parents, Kermit and Bobbie Cheek; brothers, Ricky Lynn Cheek and David Mark Cheek; mother-in-law, June Haberman; sister, Deborah Luanne Cheek, and nephew, Rodney Dlabaj.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016, at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Ennis.
A Service will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Ennis with Pastor Ray Raney officiating. Interment will be in Rice Cemetery.
