John Thomas Rice, 71, of Bristol, Texas, passed away May 6, 2016, at his residence. He was born in Paris, Texas, on March 2, 1945, the son of the late Helen Elizabeth (May) and Buster Rice.
John graduated from Texas High School in 1963, in Texarkana, Texas. He drove a truck for Air Gas and worked for Tredcor as a tire salesman for many years. John was a volunteer fireman in Bristol. He loved hunting, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and Texas A&M. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
John is survived by a daughter, Susan Holder and son-in-law Shade Holder, of Panama City, Florida; and his special friend, Patricia Holder, of Denison, Texas; one sister, MaryAnn Jackson, of Denison, Texas; two grandchildren Kayla and Jonathon Holder, of Florida; two nieces, Denise Woodard, of Alabama, and Tonya Sevart, of Missouri; one nephew, Dale Jackson, of Texas; several great-nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, James and Frank Rice.
Memorial service will be held May 19, 2016, at 6 p.m. at Methodist Church in Bristol, Texas.
