Melba Williams Hughes, 98, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Monday, May 4, 2015.
Melba was born in Howard, Texas on November 19, 1916 to Charles D. and Lela (Anderson) Williams. On December 22, 1934 she married Thomas T. Hughes and they made their home in Bardwell, Texas until 1940, then they moved to Palmer, Texas before moving to Ennis, Texas after their retirement.
She worked as a clerk for the Fabric Store and for Kuchar’s Store. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing and crochet.
She is survived by a son, Rodger Hughes and wife, Patricia; grandchildren: Rodney Hughes and wife, Michelle, David Hughes; great-grandchildren: Brittany, Krysten, Ryan, James, Eric; sister-in-law; Dora Morgan; niece and nephew; Billie Jean Bator and Don Splawn along with many cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas T. Hughes on September 30, 2002.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.
A Celebration of her life will take place on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

James Wayne Owens, 47, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, in Ennis, Texas.
James was born on Dec. 13, 1967, to Lee Ray and Virginia (Rolison) in Dallas, Texas. He grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1986. He served his country proudly in the United States Marines Reserves.
James served the City of Dallas as a Police Officer for many years. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading and spending time outdoors. He was a hunter and fisherman.
He was loved by all who knew him and his memory will carried on by all especially his family including his son, Beaux Owens; his mother, Virginia Owens; and one brother, Ronnie Owens. He is preceded in death by his father, Lee Ray Owens.
A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, May 9, at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

Virginia Ann (Rolison) Owens

Virginia Ann (Rolison) Owens, 70, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015, in Ennis, Texas.
Virginia was born in Dallas, Texas, on July 27, 1944, to Willie and Florence (McClatchy) Rolison. She grew up in Wilmer and attended school there. On Aug. 25, 1964, she married Lee Ray Owens and they made their home in Ennis.
Virginia worked for over twenty-five years for Ennis Business Forms, Inc., in the payroll department. She was a member of the Refiner’s Fire Ministries, International of Ennis, Texas. She enjoyed working in her garden and doing ceramics.
She was loved by all who knew her and her memory will carried on by all, especially her family, including her son, Ronnie Owens; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Dean Rolison and Jerry Rolison. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee Ray Owens; her son, James Wayne Owens; and two brothers.
A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, May 9, at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

Ashley Nicole Agnew, age 32, passed away in Dallas, Texas, on May 6, 2015. She was born on April 20, 1983, in Dallas to Kenneth Edwin and Patricia Ann (Gusky) Prewitt. She was a member of Calvary East Baptist Church/The Difference in Seagoville. She was a loving mother and true fighter.
Ashley is survived by her fiancé, Joe Irvin of Combine; three sons, Ethan Agnew, Canaan Wester, and Tyler Irvin; two daughters, Grace and Elyssa Agnew; mother, Patricia Prewitt of Dallas; step-mother, Nancy Prewitt of Ennis; three brothers, Tim Peterson of Massachusetts, Scott Peterson and wife Candace of Mesquite, and Kenneth Prewitt and wife Jessica of Mesquite; two sisters, Leslie Sewell and husband Nick of Forney, and Katie Prewitt of Dallas; step-sister, Stephanie Williams and husband Mika of Allen; step-brother, Arron Hurley and wife Corrie of Palmer; and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.
She is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Prewitt; brother, Josh Prewitt; and grandmother, Katherine Robinson.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, at Calvary East Baptist Church/The Difference in Seagoville.

Mary Ann Mikel

Mary Ann Mikel, 83, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015, in Dallas, Texas.
Mary was born in Ennis, Texas on October 9, 1931, to Frank and Nettie (Galetka) Slovak. She grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1948. On February 20, 1954, she married Louis Mikel and they made their home in Ennis.
Mary worked for Davis and Wester for many years as a cashier and for Erwin Distributing. She was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, SPJST, KJZT #25 and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. The joy of her life was spending time with her family.
She is survived by two sons: Jimmy Ray Mikel and Frankie “Funk” Mikel; daughter, Linda Kay Mikel; four grandsons: three great-grandchildren: one brother, Johnny Slovak and one sister, Georgie Harrell.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis Mikel on February 10, 1991, one son, Twig Mikel on October 9, 2013, and seven brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m.
Mass of the Christian burial will take place on Saturday, May 16, at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Father John Dick as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

Francisco Bernal, Jr., age 50, passed away in Ennis on May 12, 2015. He was born on October 16, 1964 in Ennis to Francisco Bernal, Sr. and Annabell (Garza) White. He was married to Ruth Vela Bernal for over 30 years; he was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend; and will be greatly missed.
Francisco is survived by his wife, Ruth Bernal; daughter, Cecelia Munoz and husband Rigo of Italy; stepdaughter, Gina Vela of Ennis; son, Steven Bernal of Italy; stepson, Aaron Vela and wife Cortney of Palmer; mother, Annabell White of Ennis; brothers, David Bernal and wife Marina of Ennis; Elias Bernal and wife Rhona of Ennis, Leon Bernal and wife Martha of Ennis, Alfredo Bernal and wife Denna of Rice, Robert Bernal of Ennis, Raymond Bernal and wife Alice of Ennis, Norman White, Jr. and wife Kathy of Ennis; sisters, Mary Morales of Ennis, Esther Canizales and husband Manuel of Rice, Irma Pacheco and husband Jaime of Ennis, Rachel Bernal and husband Jose Rodriguez of Dallas, Rebecca Bernal and husband Bobby Adams of Palmer, Rita Bernal of Odessa, Amanda Thornton and husband Scotty of Ennis; grandchildren, Rigo, Lindsey, Isaiah, and Lailah; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Francisco Bernal, Sr. and brother, Manuel Bernal.

Joanne Buckley, 86, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Thursday, May 7, 2015.
Joanne was born in Omaha, Nebraska on June 23, 1928 to Paul and Helen (Amberson) Nuschy. She grew up in Dallas and graduated from Ursuline Academy. On January 31, 1948 she married William Thompson Buckley and they made their home in Dallas and Garland.
She was a bridal consultant for Neiman-Marcus at Northpark for several years and later was a patient coordinator for Dr. John Haley in Garland, Texas. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church and St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. Her family was the joy of her life. She enjoyed reading, and watching the Texas Rangers.
She will be remembered by all who knew her especially by her loving family including her son, Shaun Buckley and wife, Karen; daughter; Charlene Coffin and husband, Terry; five grandchildren: three great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Helen Schaffnit. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one daughter, Deborah Chadbourne.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Clyde Everett Gill, 73, passed away at his home in Ennis, Texas on Tuesday, May 12, 2015.
Clyde was born in Fordyce, Arkansas on May 31, 1941 to George Wesley and Nancy Ora (Hearne) Gill. He grew up in Fordyce, Arkansas and Kilgore, Texas and attended schools there. On June 26, 1969 he married Neda F. Spraggins and they made their home in Duncanville before moving to Ennis.
He was the owner of Ennis Muffler, Brake and Tire since 1977. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was a member of National Street Rod Association and Lone Star Street Rod Association. He enjoyed working on old cars, swap meets and car shows.
He will be remembered by all who knew and loved him especially his family including his wife, Neda Gill; sons: Jeff Gill, Todd Gill, Kevin Gill and Shane Gill; daughter, Vicki Castorena; twelve grandchildren and two sisters: Louise Hubbard and Carrie Stutts.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J. E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

Antonio Martinez, age 56, passed away in Ennis on May 14, 2015. He was born on January 16, 1959, in El Paso, Texas, to Guadalupe and Elena (Barba) Martinez. He was a beloved father, grandfather and brother.
Survivors include his daughter, Annette Zapata and her husband David of Bardwell; three sons, Anthony Sarmienta and his wife Tiffany of Ennis, Michael Martinez of Ennis and Manuel Martinez of Ennis; six grandchildren, Phillip, Scarlet, Madelin, Andrea, Mariah, and Caitlyn; two great grandchildren, Lukas and Riley; three brothers, Jose Barba of El Paso, Ramon Martinez of California, and Carlos Martinez and his wife Janet of El Paso; sister, Martha Sotelo and her husband Ernesto of El Paso; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Antonio is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Juan, Salvador, Thomas, and Guillermo.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 18, at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Ennis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, at Saint John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father John Dick as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Ennis.

Gary Spurck, Sr.

Gary Spurck, Sr., 67, passed away in Dallas, Texas on Thursday, May 14, 2015.
Gary was born in Houston, Texas on July 10, 1947 to Adam Edward and Norma Lee (Barker) Spurck. He grew up in Spring, Texas and graduated from Spring High School in 1964. On July 18, 1981 he married Peggy Blackwood and they made their home in Houston before moving to Bardwell in 1986. He served his country proudly in the United State Navy in Vietnam as a Radio Operator.
He worked for National Fence Company as a supervisor, for Ennis Transportation as a long haul driver and for Leggett and Platt as a machine operator before retiring in 2000. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He will be remembered by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will be cherished most by his family including his wife, Peggy B. Spurck; son, Gary O. Spurck, Jr.; step-sons: Greg Swonke and Tim Swonke; his daughters: Sara Clayton and Nori Rhodes; seven grandchildren: one great-grandchild and one sister, Carmen Bailey. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.
A Celebration of his life will take place on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis.

David Garcia, 54, passed away in Ennis, Texas, on Tuesday, May 19, 2015.
David was born in Crosbyton, Texas on July 6, 1960, to Estevan and Ramona (Villerreal) Garcia. He grew up in Corsbyton and moved to Ennis in 1990.
He was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. He was a great person that always had a smile.
He will be remembered by all those who knew him and his memory will be cherished most by his family including, six brothers: Leonel Garcia, Juan Garcia, Armando Garcia, Isreal Garcia, Daniel Garcia and Eddie Garcia; five sisters: Gloria Garcia, Victoria Obregon, Nora Reyes, Linda Garcia Jimenez and Bobbie Coranado along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Esmeralda Zamora and one nephew, Jeremy Reyes.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 21, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m.
Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Friday, May 22, at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Father Antonio Ormaza as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
