Margie McKenzie, born October 10, 1921, left us at her home in Ennis, Texas, on May 5, 2015, at the age of 93. Margie was devoted to God and her family above all else. Margie was sweet, beautiful, funny, and deeply caring, always placing others before herself. She was a native of Dallas, Texas, and attended Anthony Drive Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her father, Edward Dewey Peacock, Sr.; her beloved mother, Rhada Lee Parsons Peacock; her husband of 49 years, Milton Henry McKenzie, Sr.; her son and daughter-in-law Milton Henry McKenzie, Jr. and Lois Ann McKenzie; her grandson, Harry Dodge (H.D.) Fincher, Jr.; great granddaughter, Lee Jordane Fincher; five sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Wanda Fincher and son in law Harry Fincher, Sr.; brothers Edward Dewey Peacock, Jr. and wife Betty, Harry Selman and wife Margaret; sister Gayle Brooks and husband Larry; six granddaughters; 10 great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
Margie’s family will hold a memorial to honor her at her graveside where she will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015, at Laurel Land Funeral Home located at 6000 South RL Thornton Freeway, Dallas, Texas. Gravesite located in section 66 lot 31 space 4.
