The family of Dick Fanning announces his passing on Friday, September 11, 2015, at his home. We will celebrate his love of family, friends and life.

Dick was born December 10, 1928, in Carthage, Missouri; the only child of Paul Harris Fanning and Edith Florine Garner Fanning. He was a graduate of Carthage Senior High School, Class of 1947 and a member of Grace Episcopal Church. He married Charlotte Jeanne Hansford on June 19, 1949, in Carthage. Dick was a member of the Ennis, Texas, Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner with the Dallas Texas Shrine. He was a past president of the American International Charolais Association. He began his career with Leggett & Platt in 1954, retiring in 1999 as President of the Western Region – Bedding Components.

Dick is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jeanne; his daughter, Susan Skaggs and husband Steve and their family, Sam, Meg, Sadie, Robinson and Henry Skaggs; daughter, Sara Fanning and her family, Megan, Jimmy, Genevieve and Violet Adams and Taylor Grimes.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2015, at Grace Episcopal Church, 820 Howard St., Carthage, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American International Junior Charolais Foundation, the Dick Fanning Scholarship Fund, 11700 NW Plaza Circle, Kansas City, MO, 64153.
