Hughy Lee Conner, Sr., 86, passed away in Ennis, Texas, on Monday, June 8, 2015.
Hughy was born in Crockett, Texas, on November 15, 1928, to George Philip and Phobia Jane (Sides) Conner. He grew up in Crockett and attended school there. On June 27, 1953, he married Ruth Helen Tobias and they made their home in Ennis. He served his country proudly in the United States Army for two years serving in Germany.
He worked for Novy Exxon for many years as the station manager and owned Hughy Conner Cleaning Service. He was a member of Baylor Baptist Church of Ennis.
He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him and his memory will be cherished most by his family including his wife of over sixty-one years, Helen Conner; son, Hughy Conner, Jr.; grandchildren: Phillip Conner, Chris Conner and Valleri Conner; and great-grandson Grayson Martinez. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in the Conner Cemetery of Houston County under the directions of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Hughy.
