Aleta “Inez” Hubacek died peacefully in her daughter’s home on May 30, 2015, after a long and blessed life.
She was born in Decatur, Texas, on July 12, 1919, to Shelby Brown Lynch and Lois (Mathews) Lynch and grew up around the Byrd and Ennis area. She was a graduate of the Byrd High School. She married Valentine “Weldon” Hubacek on Aug. 2, 1944, and they spent the next thirty years in New Braunfels and San Antonio before returning to Ennis in the early 1970’s.
Inez devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and was well-known for her delicious chocolate pies. She enjoyed playing forty-two with family and friends, and hosted a domino party for her friends at the Senior Citizens Center every Friday afternoon. Her greatest joy was visiting with her great-grandchildren and they adored her. She will be remembered for always plainly speaking the truth in love, her sense of humor, her loving and forgiving spirit, and the funny hat she always wore to the grocery store. She was a member of the Anthony Drive Baptist Church for over 40 years.
She is survived by daughter, Karen Glaspy and her husband Joey; a son, Mikel Hubacek; grandchildren: Chelsea Haskovec, Jacob Gilmore, Jonathon Hubacek and J.W. Hubacek; great-grandchildren: Lillie Haskovec, Parker Haskovec, and Hagen Hubacek; and three stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and many great friends. She was a precious reflection of Christian love to her family, and will be profoundly missed.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 2, from 6 until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. Graveside services were held on Wednesday, June 3, at 10 a.m., in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
