Celeste Johnson of Ennis passed away peacefully May 19, 2015. Celeste was born to Artie Lee & Celesta (Joly) Bohanon of Ennis on December 11, 1927. Celeste enjoyed a variety of interests; however gardening was her passion. Time spent in the yard was time well spent in her mind’s eye. Creating a beautiful home for her family and a “destination” for friends gave her hours of pleasure. As matriarch, her goal in life was to keep the family close and God closer. She was a devout Catholic and in her later years, when she could no longer attend church, she faithfully followed daily Mass and Rosary via television. Her kindness and gracious demeanor endeared her to friends and family alike. She never lost her zest for life or keen sense of humor.
Survived by her children Joe and Margo Whitley, Lonnie and Christie Gillihan and Lisa Newhouse; “Mimi” to grandchildren Vincent, Kyle, Jacob and Andrea; great-grandchildren Tyler, Dylan, Gabriel, Michelle, Emily and Reagan; brother-in-law and sister Bill and Bernadine Jurik, and brother Bobby Bohanon; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceded in death by her son Geoffrey (Jeff) David and infant twins Vincent Scott & Elizabeth Roxanne; her parents, two siblings, Thelma Speer and Artie Lee Bohanon.
The family will receive visitors at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Ennis, Monday, May 25, 2015 from 6 to 8 P.M.
