Melba Williams Hughes, 98, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Monday, May 4, 2015.
Melba was born in Howard, Texas on November 19, 1916 to Charles D. and Lela (Anderson) Williams. On December 22, 1934 she married Thomas T. Hughes and they made their home in Bardwell, Texas until 1940, then they moved to Palmer, Texas before moving to Ennis, Texas after their retirement.
She worked as a clerk for the Fabric Store and for Kuchar’s Store. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing and crochet.
She is survived by a son, Rodger Hughes and wife, Patricia; grandchildren: Rodney Hughes and wife, Michelle, David Hughes; great-grandchildren: Brittany, Krysten, Ryan, James, Eric; sister-in-law; Dora Morgan; niece and nephew; Billie Jean Bator and Don Splawn along with many cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas T. Hughes on September 30, 2002.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.
A Celebration of her life will take place on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
