Raymond M. Patak , age 81 passed away in Dallas on April 13, 2015. He was born on June 3, 1933, in Ennis to Frank W. and Annie (Vrla) Patak. He married Annie Vrzalik on Feb. 9, 1979, at Saint John Nepomucene Catholic Church. His life-long passion was farming in Ellis County. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Annie; daughters, Theresa Finn and husband Dennis of Springtown, Catherine Smid of Richardson, Elizabeth Barton and husband Buzz of Ennis; son, David Smid of Crandall; grandchildren, Casey and Leann Barton, Joshua Smid, and Natalie Finn; sister, Geraldine Spaniel and husband Leslie of Ennis; numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank W. and Annie Patak; great-grandson, Grady Cole; brothers, Frank W., Edwin, and Eugene Patak; sisters, Rosie Slovak and Hattie Zalkovsky.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Ennis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 17, at Saint John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father Henry Drozd as Celebrant.
Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Ennis.
