Steven Penrod Taylor, 63, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 27, 2015, in Bristol, Texas. Steve was born on April 19, 1951, to Clifford William and Mildred (Penrod) Taylor. He grew up in Bristol and graduated from Ennis High School where he was active in sports.
Steve began his ink career at IPI Ink starting at the bottom scrubbing floors. He later became a branch manager for Delta Color and then became a salesman. He also worked as an ink salesman for INX and most recently for Job Impressions, Inc. He made personal friends with his customers – he was an ink man through and through. Steve was a man’s man, coyote hunter, dove hunter, horse racing enthusiast, a diehard Texas Longhorns fan, and had the heart and nature of a genuine cowboy. He was a member of the Bristol Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, Jeff Taylor; his parents: Clifford and Mildred Taylor; sister, Suzi Thomas; brother, Jody Taylor and wife, Carolyn; surrogate brother, Jimmy Spurgeon and wife, Melinda along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Steve Taylor is a true legend and will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of his life will take place on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the Bristol Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Bristol Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
