Eleanora Pelzel

Eleanora Pelzel, age 84, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015.
She was born on Jan. 5, 1931, in Muenster, Texas, to Joseph Alois and Suzanna Elizabeth (Fleitman) Hoenig. Eleanora graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Muenster in 1949.
On Nov. 7, 1951, she married Arnold Fuhrman and they lived on the farm in Lindsay, Texas. After his death, Eleanora moved to Dallas to live with her sister, Rita.
They both worked at Braniff Airways. On Aug. 18, 1953, in Dallas, Texas, she married Carl F. Pelzel from Pilot Point, Texas. They lived in Denton, where their first two children were born.
In December 1956, they moved to Ennis, Texas, where they had two more children. She was an active member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Golden Crusaders, Golden Circle, Catholic Daughters of the Americas #2268, VFW Post 7106, and the Ennis Sewing Circle. She held the Sunshine office in the Ennis Sewing Circle for 18 years and was in charge of the quilting. Eleanora made the quilts for the Catholic Daughters raffle for the Scholarship Fund for many years.
She was a seamstress for Ennis Furniture, Donavon-Galvani, Ennis Dress and Storey’s Mfg. If you knew her, you knew that she loved a good game of ‘84’, ‘42’ or Scrabble.She is best known for her quilting talents, whether it was that special high school t-shirt quilt, wedding ring quilts, or the restoration of family quilts from her local friends.
She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn and her husband Mike Forehand; three sons, James and his wife Karen, Tommy and his wife Monica, and Michael and his wife Angela.
She was blessed with nine grandchildren, Erin (Forehand) Haack and her husband Josh; Nathan and Alison Pelzel; Michaelle, Brenna and Daniel Pelzel, and JW, KA, and KL; three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Braden, and Kaitlyn Haack; two sisters, Rita Cottle and Edna Mae Hermes; and one brother, Raymond Hoenig.
Eleanora is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Arnold Fuhrman; second husband, Carl Pelzel; and two brothers, Jerry Hoenig and Rupert Hoenig.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel in Ennis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Ennis, with Father Antonio L. Ormaza as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Ennis.
