Bobby Darrell Owen, 69, of Corsicana, passed January 10, 2015 at his residence due to a short battle with cancer. Bobby was born April 12, 1945 in McAllen, Texas to Robert Hugh and Grace Hamilton Owen. He graduated from Corsicana High School in 1963, He served in the US Army during Korea and Vietnam wars.
After the army Bobby began his 45 year law enforcement career with the Corsicana Police Department, Navarro County Sheriffs Office, Hill County Sheriffs Office, Hillsboro Police Department and retiring in 2006 from the Ennis Police Department. He always loved fishing, cars and playing dominoes. After retiring he enjoyed his cattle and taking in stray dogs.
Bobby is survived by his daughter Neely Owen Minchew and husband Clint of Fairfield, two grandsons Jake and Logan also of Fairfield. Brother Hugh Owen, niece Anna Owen Paul both of Corsicana.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Grace Owen; sister Darla Kay Owen of Corsicana.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral service to honor the life of Bobby Owen will be 3:00 pm Monday, January 12, 2015 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clayton Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cody Gantt, Kendall Walker, Leslie Cotton, Terry Grounds, Wayne Tlustos, Jon Edwards. Honorary pallbearers Ennis Police Department and other law enforcement, Larry Battles.
