Helen was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on February 10, 1939 to Raymond and Nell White. She grew up in St. Petersburg and graduated from St. Petersburg High School. She went on to Westminster Choir College of Princeton obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Music. On April 30, 1965 she married Franklin David Ritchey and they made their home in Ennis, Texas.
She was the owner and instructor at Ritchey School of Music for many years and was a member of the Dallas Symphony Chorus. She had great success with her students, enjoying spending time with each one. She has even had some students to go on and seek careers in the music field. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ennis, Rebecca Lodge of Ennis, the Ennis, Waxahachie and Dallas Quilting Guilds. She enjoyed genealogy and was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
She is survived by her husband, Franklin “David” Ritchey of Ennis; son James Ritchey and his wife, Anamari of Justin; two grandchildren: Brant and Drew and one brother, Zeke White of Tampa, FL.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Interment will follow in DFW National Cemetery will be at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
