Ernest Wayne Camp of Ferris, Texas passed away, January 1, 2014, surrounded by his family at Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Ernest was born in Waxahachie, Texas to Ernest J. and Fredna P. Bateman Camp, an only child. Ernest and Cleo Davis were married on December 21, 1956 at Bailey Heights Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Ernest started and served as a Police Officer in 1958 in Corsicana, Ennis, Ellis Sheriff’s Department and retired as the Chief of Police of Palmer in 1998. He loved his family, western movies and football. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 57 years; Cleo Camp, daughter; Debbie Martinek, 2 sons; Tommy Camp, Tim and Becky Camp. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Derek Martinek, Ambre Camp, Donese Martinek Sammie Jo Alcaraz, Ashton Camp, Morgan Camp and Taylor Camp. 3 great grandchildren Aiden, Gunner and Annie. Ernest is also survived by many cousins and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law Dennis Martinek. Visitation will be held 6~8 pm Monday, January 6, 2014 at Green Funeral Home, 207 S. Wood St. in Ferris, Texas. Funeral service will be held, 12:00 pm, Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Green Funeral Home, with Rodney Rickman officiating. Interment to follow at Maypearl Cemetery in Maypearl, Texas. Pallbearers: Epi Garfias, Bruce Gorman, John Hancock, Randy Kelly, Mike Norman, Frank Parham, Randy Rider, Ric Yarber. Honorary Pallbearers: Jeff Cottongame, Fred Pontley.
