Elbert Wayne “Marty” Martin

2332011Elbert Wayne “Marty” Martin, 67, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Sunday, November 24, 2013. Marty was born in Mansfield, Texas on December 27, 1945 to Elbert LeRoy and Mary Francis (Ackerman) Martin. He graduated from Seagoville High School in 1963 and went on to attend Delmar Junior College. On August 16, 1969 he married Marcia L. Sanders and they made their home in Corpus Christie, Kleberg, and Memphis, Tennessee and settled in the Ennis area in 1990. He served his country proudly in the United State Navy for over twenty years. After his service to his country he worked for Jim Wilson and Associates for ten years as the corporate pilot and for eighteen years with ABF Freight Line as a truck driver. He was a member of the Fundamental Baptist Church of Palmer. He enjoyed restoring classic cars, playing golf and target shooting. He is survived by his wife, Marcia Martin of Ennis; son, Anthony Wayne Martin and his wife Rhonda of Kemp; daughter, Stephanie Martin of Ennis; three grandchildren: his father, Elbert LeRoy Martin and one sister, Mary Fort. He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Martin. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of his life will take place on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 in the Fundamental Baptist Church of Palmer with Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Interment will take place on Friday, November 29, 2013 at 96:15 a.m. in the DFW National Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. www.jekeevermortuary.com
