Susan Ophelia (Colvin) Emerson, 64, passed away in Dallas, Texas on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Susan was born in Ennis, Texas on February 3, 1949 to John Paul and Mary Pauline Colvin. She grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School. She went on to East Texas State University to receive her Bachelor’s degree in Education and later her Master’s degree in Counseling. On January 31, 1975 she married Dennis Emerson. She worked for the Ennis Independent School District for over thirty-four years first as a teacher and then as a counselor. She was a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church, the Texas Retired Teachers Association and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her family was her pride and joy. She enjoyed genealogy and antiques. She is survived by two sons: Russell Emerson and Kelly Emerson; grandsons: J.D. and Josh; one brother, Jim Colvin and two sisters: Betty Williamson and Cynthia Jo Moore; sister-in-law, Karen Colvin. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Paul and Mary Pauline Colvin, brothers, Johnnie Lee Colvin and Jeffery Glen Colvin, sister, Beverly Ann Tipton and two nephews, Berry Glen Colvin and John Richard Ford. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Friends of Texas Public Schools. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the J.E.
