Funeral services for James E. Wester of Palmer, Texas are scheduled for 10:30 A.M. Tuesday August 6, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of Palmer with Joe Larson and Dr. John Fuller officiating. Visitation will be on Monday August 5, 2013 from 6 to 8 P.M at J. E. Keever Funeral Home in Palmer. James Wester was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas on April 10, 1922 to the late Frank and Carrie Wester. He went to be with the Lord on Friday August 2, 2013. James graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University and a Masters degree from East Texas State University. James taught Agriculture for 20 years in Palmer and after that was in the Insurance and Real Estate business until he retired. When James moved to Palmer in 1945, he met and married the love of his life Reba Frances Kinsala. Through this marriage of 57 years twin sons were born, Jimmy and Jerry, who were their pride and joy. Both James and Frances were active in the Palmer community and the First United Methodist Church. James was chairman of the church building committee that is still being used today. He was a church leader and led the singing for over 45 years. Also he was very active in the Palmer Lions Club and Masonic Lodge #459 for 50 years. James was the president of the Palmer Cemetery Association, past mayor and served on the city council. James was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Carrie Wester, wife Reba Frances, Brothers Cal & Bostick, and sisters Carolyn and June. Survivors include son Jimmy and wife Sharen, son Jerry and wife JoAnn, Grandson Chad Wester and wife Elizabeth, Grand daughter Lezlee and husband Joel Hernandez, Great Granddaughters Briann Wester, Kaylee Wester, Sophia Hernandez, Morgan Chambless, and Abby Chambless. Pallbearers will be Jay Brim, Charles Brim, Chad Wester, Joel Hernandez, Robert Ragsdale, John Porter, Ellis Porter and Edwin Davis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Schroeder, Grady Billups, Duane Potter, Jack Smith, Mary Nell Glaspy and Harold Adams.
