Charlene Whitley, 91, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Wednesday, July 17, 2013. Charlene was born in Oklahoma City on October 13, 1921 to Charles B. and Lytia (Foster) Jacobs. She grew up in Oklahoma City and attended school in the Oklahoma City. On April 29, 1946 she married Ruben A. Whitley, after their marriage they lived in El Paso, Texas and then to Ennis in 1975. She worked for Ennis Care Center for twelve years as a nurse’s aide. She was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by two sons: Dwane Reeves and his wife Norma of Lodi, California, Ronney Whitley and his wife Rene of Seven Points; two daughters: Bettie Eitel of Ennis, Cindy Dixon and her husband, Earl of Garret; step-daughters: Virginia Navarrette of Jefferson, Texas and Dixie Calvin of Bristow, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren: twelve great-grandchildren: three great-great-grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ruben A. Whitley November 9, 1965 and four sisters. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of her life will take place on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Eddie Miner officiating.
