Mr. J. M. Eitel, 76, of Ennis, passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Dallas, Texas April 30, 2013. J. M. was born and reared in the northeast Texas town of De Kalb. He was born September 8, 1936 to Marvin and Mabel (Wilson) Eitel. He graduated from De Kalb High School. After graduation, he served in the U. S. Army from 1954 – 1959. On January 26, 1959 he was married to Bettie Reeves in El Paso, Texas. They made their home in Lovelady, Texas before moving to Ennis in 1976. Following his service in the Army, J. M. spent several years as a self-employed diesel mechanic in multiple locations. He loved to fish. J. M. is survived by his wife, Bettie; daughters: Lorrye, and her husband John Taylor and Wendye, and her husband, Chuck Ellison; three sisters: Sally, and her husband, Kenneth Keeles, Ophelia Litton and Mary Lee; four grandchildren: Cassidye, Zachary, Abigail and Jeremiah. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Vick Eitel. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Old Cedar Cemetery (Cedar Creek Community), De Kalb, Texas under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
