Katie Olga Kummel Hansen-Claxton, age 73 passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 at her residence in Alvin. Katie was born on November 12, 1939 in Copenhagen, Denmark, to Ralph Kummel Hansen and Gerda F. Svenningsen. Katie married Johnny Charles Claxton on December 30, 1961. Katie was a devoted wife, Mor and Mormor. She dedicated her life to God and her family. Katie loved gardening and listening to opera music, living each day to its fullest, and encouraging others to better themselves. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister, Daisy L. Fisher. Katie is survived by her daughters, Brenda Connelly and husband, John, Nancy DeMartin, Barbara Claxton, brothers, Henning Pettersen, Preben Lund, Ralph Soren Hansen, four grandchildren, Michael and Katherina Claxton, Kristina Davern and Kyle Connelly, two great-granddaughters, Tatum and Lorilai Claxton, numerous other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
