Chris Meeker, a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend, completed his earthly endeavors and was called home to be with his Lord on November 23, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. He was 46.
Chris was born on August 23, 1971, in West Memphis, Arkansas, and reared in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He married the former Laura Marie Harbour in 1992 and raised seven children in Ennis, Texas. Devoted to his family, he loved, served, and led them well in the ways of the Lord.
In addition to being a strong, dedicated Christian, Chris was a humble, generous and faithful servant-leader at Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, youth and children’s ministry volunteer, building and maintenance manager, and team leader of Tabernacle’s building team. He was a loyal friend who was loved and will be greatly missed by many in both his church and community.
He worked for the last twelve years at FBM Property Management and Construction as a Realtor, property manager, and construction manager. Chris also proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga, a Florida-based aircraft carrier, and studied business at both Arkansas State University and Sam Houston State University.
Chris is survived by his wife, Laura; daughters: Abigail, Madeline, Hannah and Sophia; and sons: Samuel, Levi and Joshua. Also surviving him are his parents Darlene and Jerry Meeker, along with a host of other well-loved family members. He is preceded in death by his sister, Kimberly Bailey.
Visitation will be at J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
A celebration of his life will be observed on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, with burial following in Myrtle Cemetery of Ennis under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
