Leonard H. Drozd, 85, on Monday, July 10, 2017 a good man died today. He was faithful to God, his family, friends and his church. He was a very generous man especially to the poor and those in need. As a business man, he was known as the “Candyman”; he also gave away money as if it were candy. His favorite charities were the missions in Africa, Sudan Relief Fund and The sisters of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. To those in need and the poor he gave thousands of dollars that totaled a very large six figure amount. I write this of his love for the poor, something eh did not reveal to anyone. He’d be quite upset that I did. Leonard was a sensitive, kind, simple man, and tender hearted. He was a wonderful son and brother. A very good man died today!
Leonard was born in Ennis, Texas on September 15, 1931 to Henry Frank and Agnes Victoria (Vasek) Drozd. He grew up in Ennis and graduated from St. John High School in 1949 as Valedictorian. He went on to the University of Texas in Austin receiving a degree in Geology. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy.
