Dortheal (Dorothy) Kate Reeder Evans was born on January 13, 1929 in Hugo, Oklahoma to Curt and Pearl Reeder, the last of six children, having three sisters and two brothers, all of whom preceded her in death.
On June 30, 1945, Dorothy married SSG, Ralph W. Evans, Jr. in Paris, Texas. Together they had three children. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ralph, in 2002 and her loving daughter, Debra McNeely, much too early, also in 2002.
Dorothy loved to work in her yard, tending flower beds, loved caring for her pets (especially Pearl) and above all else, MawMaw loved seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by son, Kurt and wife Kathi Evans of Goleta, California; son-in-law, Gary McNeely of Waxahachie, Texas; son, Karl and wife Rebecca (Becky) Evans of Waxahachie; brother-in-law, Sam Evans of Houston; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews and many special friends and neighbors.
Dorothy passed away very peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, after a brief illness, at her home in Ennis, Texas.
Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ennis since 1962.
In Lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to First United Methodist Church of Ennis.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Ennis with Rev. Steve Holston officiating under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc..
