Nellie Jane Land, 92, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Tuesday, April 18, 2017.
Nellie was born in Teague, Texas on September 27, 1924 to James and Bertha Mae (Edwards) Phelps. She grew up in Hubbard, Texas. On June 1, 1940 she married Almer Ray Land and they made their home in Hubbard until moving to Palmer in 1953.
She was a member of the Fundamental Baptist Church of Palmer. She loved to cook and was a “people” person.
She is survived by sons: Donald Ray Land and wife, Judy; James Warren Land; daughter-in-law, Patty Land; eight grandchildren: sixteen great-grandchildren: sixteen great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Patsy McElhaney and husband, Jimmy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Almer Ray Land on February 16, 1966, son, John Thomas Land on January 4, 2017, great-great-grandson, Dodge Levi Graff, one brother and four sisters.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Palmer.
A Celebration of her life will take place on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Fundamental Baptist Church of Palmer. Pallbearers will be Danny Land, David Land, Cody Graff, Ricky Land, Jeffrey Kuhn, Zachary Kuhn, J.D. Norman and Dalton Land. Honorary pallbearers will be Konnor Norman and Bentley Graff. Interment will follow in the Palmer Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
