Theresa Whitfill Odlozil, 90, passed away in Waxahachie, Texas on Thursday, December 15, 2016.
Theresa was born in Kennedale, Texas on February 9, 1926 to Anthony E. and Mary Margaret (Kelly) Whitfill. She grew up in Alma and graduated from St. John High School in 1944. On November 12, 1946 she married Johnnie Odlozil and they made their home in Ennis.
She worked for over sixteen years as the Secretary for the St. John Catholic High School. She was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, the Red Hatters Club, Catholic Daughters, KJZT #25, and the Altar Society. She loved to sew and was requested by many to make wedding and prom dresses. She also loved to cook, play dominos and dance. Her family and friends were the light of her life.
She is survived by sons: Ron Odlozil and wife, Becky and Richard Odlozil and wife, Laurie; daughter, Terry Becker and husband, Philip; nine grandchildren: Kellye, Coleman, Taylor and wife, Haley, Jordan, Courtney and husband, Michael, Justin and wife, Susan, Ashley and husband, Derek, Brigette, Clayton; seven great-grandchildren: Becca, Chase, Samantha, Katelyn, Calvin, Aria and Layla; two brothers: Fred Whitfill and Paul Whitfill along with three sisters: Gertrude Langley, Geraldine Gurley and Lucille Prestidge.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers: Clarence, Gilbert, Lloyd and sisters: Henrietta and Thelma.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m.
Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Father Henry Drozd as celebrant. Pallbearers will be Henry Odlozil, Jr., Wesley Odlozil, Jr., Gary Harrison, George Pruitt, Douglas McClintock and Harold Gurley. Honorary pallbearers will be Gregory Harrison and Mitchell Pruitt. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Sterling Place and Baylor Scott and White for the care and love shown to her during her stay with them.
