Gerald C. Chamberland

Gerald C. Chamberland, age 74, of Gordon, WI, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Middle River Care Facility in South Range, WI.

Gerald Carl Chamberland was born September 17, 1942 in Navasota, TX the son of Carl and Annie (Hammons) Chamberland.  He graduated from Ennis High School in 1961.  He joined the U.S. Air Force on November 3, 1961 and was honorably discharged on November 2, 1965.  Gerald was joined in marriage to Nancy Evans on December 21, 1963 at Carswell Airforce Base in Fort Worth, TX.  After his time in the service he worked on the rail road for three months. He then went to work for the U.S. Postal Service in Dallas, TX.  Gerald was a letter carrier for 19 years and then a postal truck driver for 11 years.   After retirement from the post office Gerald and Nancy moved to Gordon, WI in 2000.  He was a member of Sons of Confederate Veterans, Sons and Daughters of the Confederacy, American Legion Post #499, Gordon, WI, Southern Pacific Historical Society, National Active and Retired Federal Employee Chapter 2119 of Superior, and was a board member of Gordon, WI Sanitary District.  He was a lifelong Methodist.  Gerald’s favorite hobby and pastime was model railroading.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy; one daughter, Laura (David) Cochran of Superior, WI; two grandsons, Roy Cochran of Seattle, WA and Fred Cochran of Superior, WI; one brother, Bobby (Linda) Chamberland of Waxahachie, TX; brother-in-law, Lowell (Carolyn) Evans;  two sisters-in-law, Bertha (William) Laakkonen, Barbara McDaniel;  aunts; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Evan Gerald Chamberland.

A memorial service celebrating Gerald’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, at the Solon Springs Funeral Home.  A gathering will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.  Interment will be in the Gordon Cemetery in Gordon, WI.  Military honors will be accorded by the State of Wisconsin Military Funeral Honors Program.
